What Is A Chocolate Runner Duck?
The Chocolate Runner Ducks originated in Southeast Asia and are from the Indian Runner Family. They are a rich, solid dark brown with dark brown eyes and a black bill. They have a slim body and long neck. They live 8 to 10 years. A Drake typically weighs 4 to 4.5 lbs. A hen weights 3.5 lbs. They have an upright, slender posture and walk erect and are sometimes called "Penguin Ducks." They are high egg producers laying 100 to 300 eggs per year. Their eggs are blue-green in color. They are good foragers and are often used for pest control as they eat waste, seeds, insects, slugs and other bugs. They are very active and excitable. Not typically used for meat.
