NO SCHOOL NOVEMBER 11 AND 12
November 12 -- Grading/Assessment Day
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE by MONICA ARBOW
Nancy Ryles Families,
During the month of November, there is an increased focus on gratitude. Merriam Webster defines gratitude as, "A feeling of appreciation or thanks." Many studies suggest that focusing on and expressing gratitude has significant physical and emotional health benefits. There are lots of ways to show gratitude such as incorporating what we are grateful for as part of family discussions, writing someone a thank you card expressing why you are thankful for them, creating gratitude jars at home where family members can write what they are grateful for on a slip of paper and add it to the jar (then you can find a time to read all of them together), or keeping a journal of personal reflections of gratitude. During such stressful times in our lives, focusing on what we are grateful for is a small and simple act that can have substantial benefits. We are grateful for our Nancy Ryles community and all of the support you provide your student(s) and school each day.
Speaking of gratitude, tomorrow is Veterans Day. We have this day off of school so that we can recognize, honor, and give thanks to those who have served or are serving in the military. With family connections to the Air Force and Army, I want to take a moment to thank all of the service men and women who have shown courage and dedication in serving, and to the families of veterans who have shown resilience, support, and sacrifice. Happy Veterans day and thank you for your service.
With gratitude,
Monica Arbow
