Volume 2, Issue 17 - December 7, 2018
We are receiving phone calls from our community neighbors about some unsafe behaviors students and families are having during drop off/pick up time. We want to remind you that, for the safety of your child, you must always let them out of the car on the sidewalk. Please, do not let them out on the driver side! If you are dropping your student off outside of Gentry grounds, make sure you do it in a safe place (do not stop in the middle of the road) and by the sidewalk. If your student walks home, remind them to always use the crosswalk.

Friday: Academic Day!
Media Center Minute
We have seen a huge increase in broken iPads recently. Please remind your student to take care of their iPad and always be sure the ENTIRE CASE (Cover Flap or Keyboard) is attached when transporting. We have a limited number of devices for replacements and we don’t want students having to go without a device because it is broken.
Diversity Dispatch
Our December Giving drive continues this month with items for Welcome Home. Welcome Home helps support homeless veterans. We are challenging each advisory family to accept the challenge to fill a brown paper bag with goods for the veterans. Please check with your student to see what area their advisory decides to help out with. We will be accepting donations through December 14th.
2019 Summer Jobs for Columbia Teens
The City of Columbia's Career Awareness Related Experience (CARE) program is once again gearing up to take applications for Summer 2019 employment. The goal of CARE is to ensure that Columbia's youth are ready to enter the workforce and become productive, self-sufficient citizens. They hire at-risk 14-20 year old youth who live in the City of Columbia, MO and/or attend a Columbia, MO school and place them at local businesses, where they gain much needed real-world hands on work experience while getting paid. Trainees' wages are paid for by CARE. Please click on the link below and search for: CARE Traditional Summer Trainee 2019.
Applications are available November 1- February 28. Applicants are STRONGLY encouraged, however, to apply online as early (as close to November 1st) as possible as this is a very popular program and will fill up very quickly. If you have further questions, please call 573-874-6300.
