2022 - 2023 School Year

We look forward to the beginning of a wonderful school year! If you are receiving this newsletter and are no longer planning to attend Panorama Elementary, please contact our office immediately.

If you are planning to attend Panorama Elementary, but you will not be present on the first day of school, please contact the office immediately.

First Day of School

On the first day of school, parents can walk with their students to their morning lines, but this is not necessary. We will have all staff available to help direct students to their lines and classrooms. Additional parking will be available in our upper parking lot. The campus must be cleared by 8:30 AM, so we can secure the gate. After the first day, families should drop off their children in the parking lot.

Crawford Canyon Road Work

Currently, the Water District is performing construction on Crawford Canyon. At this time, if you need to come to Panorama, you will not be able to turn on Crawford Canyon from Chapman Avenue. The road should be open by the first day of school with traffic control. Please take some time to determine your route to Panorama in case the road continues to be closed. We understand the inconvenience, so please be patient.

Wednesday Schedule and CARES

On Wednesdays, brunch is served during recess instead of lunch at the end of the day. Due to this, students attending CARES will need to pack a lunch, if the snacks served are not sufficient. Picking up lunch from nutrition services will not be an option on Wednesdays. Please contact CARES with any questions about the snack schedule.

COVID-19 Procedures and Safety

Individuals who are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms should contact their healthcare provider and stay home. If your child or a member of your household has tested positive or is awaiting COVID-19 test results, please follow public health guidance.

If your child tests positive for COVID-19 or experiences COVID-19 symptoms, please contact the school and/or email me at erosselli@orangeusd.org. We will gather information from you and provide you with your options.

If a student tests positive, they are required to isolate. The isolation guidance requires 10 days without testing from when symptoms began or a positive test (whichever comes first). The student can return to school on day 11; however, if a student tests negative on day 5 using an FDA-approved antigen test and all symptoms have improved that student is able to return to school on day 6. If a home test was used, students will need to bring the attestation form to the office upon their return. The student must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

Please refer to the OUSD Safety and Health Driven Plan and the County of Orange Health Officer’s Orders directly for more information.

The Orange Unified School District will be offering COVID-19 testing Monday through Thursday at the comprehensive high schools and the district office from 2:30 - 5:00.

See the flyer below to register for testing. You MUST register prior to arriving to test. Scan the QR code in the flyer or click here: https://apps.livingfitnation.com/covid/registration?q=ZC128mzcc9lFeeoTzoXp3w%3D%3D

Data Confirmation & Teacher Assignments

All families must complete Data Confirmation each year to verify and update student information. Data Conformation is our electronic emergency card and data collection for both new and returning students. It allows parents to update contacts, identify medical conditions, view and agree to school policies/documents, and update authorization information.

This year we have added two new questions to Data Confirmation. When you complete these questions, your family may qualify for free programs and perks. See the attached flyer below for more information.

  1. How many people are in your household?
  2. What is your total monthly household income?

Please complete this NOW! Login to the Parent Portal and complete this for each child. Log in HERE

You will also find your teacher assignment on the Parent and Student Portals on Tuesday, August 16, after 5 PM. Teachers and administration work together to create dynamic classroom instructional groups. This process takes into consideration academic achievement, social-emotional components, and group behavior dynamics. The classes are still being formed now. Please do not submit teacher requests or classroom request changes. No changes will be made to classes until two weeks after the beginning of the school year.

Each teacher and classroom support our scholars in developing a resilient growth mindset to confidently learn, purposefully adapt, and empathetically lead in our evolving community and world.

Smarter Balanced Score Reports

If your child was in third through sixth grade last year, they completed the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments. You can access your child's score report in the Aeries Parent Portal under "Test Scores" and then "State Electronic Score Reports." These results will also be discussed with you at parent conferences in October. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the office.

Grade Level & Teacher Wish Lists

Click on a grade level below to see the wish lists. If it is a teacher list only, you will need to wait until the evening of Tuesday, August 17.

Section 5 of Article IX of the State of California Constitution guarantees students a "free public education." The State Supreme Court concluded in the 1984 case of Hartzell v. Connell, "that all educational activities carried on by public school districts, extra-curricular as well as curricula, must be without cost to the students who participate in such activities." This same ruling found that "mandatory fees for participating in such extra-curricular activities as drama, music, and athletic competition were illegal under the State Constitution." Furthermore, they also rejected the argument that "fees could be charged so long as the district waived fees for students who were financially unable to pay." Recent proposed legislation includes reimbursement with interest for any illegally-collected fees as well as a district sanction.

Nutrition Services

Breakfast and lunch will continue to be provided to all students at no cost this school year. Breakfast is served before school starts, beginning at 8:00. Please be sure to have your child here at 8:00, if you would like them to eat breakfast before school starts. This ensures they have enough time to finish.

You can find the breakfast menu here:
