Frederick County Leads the Way to a Bright Future
Today I presented the annual State of the County Address. Here is some breaking news from the presentation:
- Patents awarded to Frederick County inventors have outpaced the national rate since 2012, with most awarded in the biomedical and IT network management industries.
- Millennial population growth: Frederick County’s population of people ages 25 – 34 grew more than 11 percent since 2010. These young professionals will replace the baby boomers and keep our economy moving.
- A Property Assessed Clean Energy Program will kick off this month, allowing businesses to save green by going green.
- The 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center is leading the way with Next Generation 9-1-1 that will improve the accuracy of call locations and will allow for multimedia communication. The 9-1-1 Communications Center will move its primary location to the Public Safety Training Facility by the end of the year to expand to meet the county’s growing call volume.
Frederick County is on the cutting edge with innovation in public education, a collaborative approach at ROOT to help turn big ideas into jobs, and with a new approach to serving a growing senior population.
Frederick County is leveraging its assets to make the most of every tax dollar and asset to deliver outstanding services and to protect taxpayers’ investment in infrastructure.
