Elements and Principles

In my landscape featuring the Golden Gate Bridge, I have used color to make my painting have contrast and balance. It has contrast because I mixed white and black with the original color. I have the same amount of black and white based layers, this makes my art feel balanced.

History and Culture

My artwork is based off of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California. The Golden Gate Bridge was finished on May 27, 1937, it took 4 years to build altogether. The Golden Gate was built for one sole purpose to connect San Francisco with Marin County. The Golden Gate is a bridge which is used to connect to pieces of land separated by water.

Art and Design

Joseph Strauss designed the large landmark, which took 4 years to build. A man whose name was Moissieff brought the idea for a suspension bridge up during the building of the Golden Gate. The bridge itself was made of steel.

Personal Response

I decided to do this landmark because the location was quite scenic, and it is pretty. I would like to visit this landmark one day because it is still in use for travel. I feel it should be standing because without it you lose a piece of history, and transportation problems arise.

Principles and Elements Pharagraph

The element of art used in my piece is color. I organized this to achieve the principle of design, Unity. Unity is when a feeling of harmony is created in a work of art by repeating an element throughout the whole thing. Unity is created when I repeat the same base color over and over again to get shades and tints. Unity is a useful principle of design in artwork it makes a piece have harmony.
