Everett Weekly 2.17.23

February 17, 2023
Valentine’s Day always makes me happy. I don’t know why. It’s actually kind of ridiculous and can feel exclusive depending on where you are at in your life, somehow, I’ve always connected with the colors of the season with red and pink and the celebration of our appreciation for each other. I love the image above because it reminds me of how love can protect us. When we are feeling upset or attacked about something, reframing the intent of others or our own lens on the situation with love can really shift our thinking and can help us navigate tough situations.
Also, speaking of love, would anyone LOVE to host Myrtle the Tortoise for spring break? Here is a note from her:
"Hi, my name is Myrtle and I'm the resident tortoise at Everett. I love spending my days listening to the lessons in the Science classroom, but I'm currently looking for a place to spend Spring Break. I come with all supplies needed to make my stay very easy. Feeding me romaine lettuce and a few food pellets each morning is about all I need a human's help with. Oh and probably some fresh water every few days. If you are interested in hosting me during Spring Break, please contact Kate Hanson (khanson@lfschools.net). She can give you more details. After all, we all need a change of scenery sometimes!"
Enjoy this wonderfully long weekend!
With love,
Renée

The Lake Forest Community High School District 115 Board of Education is pursuing a $105.7M referendum on the April 4, 2023 Lake County election ballot. District 115 seeks to protect and improve its 88-year-old historic, landmark community high school by addressing the building’s most pressing capital facility needs. The proposed improvements would help create a healthier, safer, and more secure school while extending the building’s useful life, reduce costly and disruptive emergency repairs, enhance ADA accessibility, improve energy efficiency, and strengthen the District’s ability to provide continued excellence in education.
