HE IS RISEN
The Resurrection
Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.”

STATE OF THE SCHOOL ADDRESS RECAP
Mr. Yearwood talked about several important updates and topics. Below are some key points.
State of the School Address Key Points
- School Safety - Mr. Yearwood discussed areas of concern, current facility security procedures, and adjustments. He also gave details on a security grant that we will be applying for. This grant included a vulnerability study that was completed on April 3rd. Bids for security features will be taken this week in preparation for the grant application.
- Campus Changes for 2023-24 - We are out of space and need additional classrooms. To accommodate the growth of enrollment, beginning in the fall of 2023, students in grades 7-12 will attend class at the Depot Park Campus (old Desperation Church building). Students in PreK-6th grade will continue to attend class at the current Beech Avenue Campus location. We are so very grateful for Desperation Church for their help with this project and to God for His provision.
- Capital Campaign - Mr. Ryan Blodgett gave an update on the capital campaign for expanding CCS. This expansion will entail purchasing the current building and construction of additional classrooms. The campaign is structured with five sub-committees: Building, Solicitation, Financial, Communications, and Prayer. If you have questions or would like to volunteer for a committee, please reach out to Mr. Blodgett.
- Curriculum Updates - Mr. Jonathan Haynes reported news of curriculum mapping and analysis. The curriculum committee consists of professionals from all grade spans and several parents. The goal of the team is to systematically review what we are teaching and keeping our framework in alignment with our school mission, vision, and purpose. (MISSION: Cullman Christian School seeks to serve the Christian community by providing an academically rigorous education with a biblical world and life view. VISION: To become one of the leading private Christian schools in the state of Alabama through educating students classically, equipping students spiritually, and sending students missionally to pursue their God-ordained calling. PURPOSE: To further the kingdom of God by preparing students to impact the world.)
- Youth Sports and AHSAA - Mr. Yearwood gave updates on current opportunities and future plans for sports for the youth as well as the upper school sports.
- Archery - We want to have an archery team next year. This will take some planning and set up this summer that involves training and applying for a grant. Mr. Wigley, an experienced archery coach and CCS parent, has volunteered to head this up.
