Second Grade News
Week 6 - September 25-29
English Language Arts
Our fiction text for the week is When I was Young in the Mountains. During reading we will focus on the setting, or where and when the story takes place. We will discuss how the setting impacts other parts of the story, such as the characters and plot. We will also practice making connections as we read. Finally, we will continue learning about various parts of speech. Specifically we will focus on nouns.
This week’s spelling words have long-a or |a| sound. This is the vowel sound you hear at the beginning of the word ape.
