This Week At SHOJ

March 5, 2021

From Mrs. Rhodes

There have been many concerns raised recently regarding the Covid safety measures here at Sacred Heart. We appreciate all of the time, effort and care that our students and school families have put forth. It does not go unnoticed and we take all of the feedback we receive into consideration. We are constantly, as a Covid team, communicating with the Johnson County Health department professionals, getting guidance from the Archdiocese and discussing what is the best and safest practices for our school. We understand that the best and the safest practices might look different for every family and that not everyone will be satisfied with every decision made. We ask that you stay united with us on this journey and remember that we are one. We are all doing the best we can and ultimately have the same goal in mind, which is to keep our student safe and healthy, while educating them and growing them in their relationship with Jesus. We know that this has been a really difficult year on many levels for everyone. Our prayer and hope is that we will continue to see the cases of Covid decrease as the number of vaccinated individuals increase, which will begin a shift back to a more normal school environment.

Please pray for us, as we are continually praying for our students and their families.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns about anything Covid related, do not hesitate to reach out to Nurse Mary.

Not only is SHOJ kind, they are good writers!

I am so very happy to announce that five students here at Sacred Heart have been awarded a very big honor and were selected as top status finalist for their submission in the Kindest Kansas Citian Contest this year!

If you recall, schools from the entire greater Kansas City and surrounding areas were invited to participate.

So to receive this kind of honor among hundreds of students is truly remarkable!

A huge congratulations to the following students.

Logan Crum - 6th grade Hess

Vivian Goodwin - 3rd Grade Lyons

Patrick Nicholas - 3rd Grade Novak

Emily Crum - 1st Grade Gardner

Olivia Brozenic - Kindergarten Hammond

This is a record breaking number of students selected from one school. We are so proud of everyone who participated this year and we look forward to honoring all students who participated at our SHOJ reception the week of April 12-16.

Catholic Parents as Stewards is Looking for Help

It is that time of year when we start planning the CPS activities and are looking for people to lead (not do all the work - but to lead) activities. Thank you for considering to help our school!

Vision Screenings Soon **Please send your child to school with their glasses/contact lenses next week. I will not perform a screen on any child that does not have their prescribed vision correction on or in, as this would give an already known abnormal result.**

I will be conducting vision screens on all students March 9th-11th. I am borrowing a spot vision screening device from Vision Care Associates in Shawnee. This device gives quick results and is highly effective at detecting a multitude of vision abnormalities. I plan to have students keep masks on and stay distanced during the screens. Please try to have your children at school these days, as I will be returning the device after school on March 11th. I will only contact a parent if there is an abnormal result.

Thank you!

Also—0 new cases or quarantines this week!
