The Quill April 20
A thought or Two from Mr. Nieslanik
I, You, Us, We
I begin each day with a smile
I have the honor of working in a place I love
In a career I aspire to better within
For it opens doors to the future
Alongside young adults who inspire.
You as parents are the foundation
Of a story that begins at home
Of learning that defines family
Polishing and molding a better tomorrow
With young adults who inspire.
Us, a bond that unites to create
A community that is strong and caring
A school that is inclusive and learning
A voice that is loud, strong, and true
Supporting young adults who inspire.
We come together as a community
To learn and share and dream
To take one step forward as one
To embrace and empower
A young adult who inspires.

Southridge Volunteer Appreciation
Volunteers pick up the slack in the library, run Skymart, cover the main office during lunches, and organize other volunteers. Coaches lean on volunteers to be assistant coaches, scorekeepers, oversee equipment, and organize end of season banquets. Volunteers bring their professional expertise to the classrooms and chaperone field trips, dances, and overnight trips. Volunteers commit to support a year long project, or spend an afternoon proctoring a test, or making phone calls from home.
Without our volunteers, many programs and activities are not sustainable. Drama, band, and choir parent volunteers give the directors the freedom to focus on award winning performances. Volunteers sew costumes, keep track of choir robes, and haul the large musical instruments to competitions. The work the Southridge PTO does would not happen without the dedicated volunteers. The funds they raise to support the good work they do - classroom projects and activities, offer senior scholarships, and meet the unending, unforeseen needs of SRHS - does not happen without family and community participation.
Southridge students would not be as inspired, engaged, and successful without the valuable, critical, and selfless work of our amazing volunteers!
There are not appropriate words to express the gratitude of the SRHS students and staff for all you do. Please know your precious time, generous donations, and dedication to Southridge provides new opportunities, opens new doors, and readies students for a brighter future - the best outcome of all! Thank you.

Living History Day
After spending time in class reviewing specific periods in history and imagining what it might have been like, 10th, 11th and 12th graders joined the veterans to hear their stories first hand and ask questions. Students found the experiences of the older veterans were much different than the veterans of today.
PTO NEWS
Don’t Let a Good Thing End
The Southridge PTO is in jeopardy of having to disband next year if we do not have parents willing to step up and take an active role on the board.
