Kia ora Parents and Caregivers

It was wonderful to see so many of you attend the final assembly yesterday. I said a number of thank-yous in my speech and I would like to mention them again here:

Our Children

I'm so proud of the progress you have made this year. Thanks for your outstanding behaviour and kindness towards one another. Farewell to our Year 6 children who are moving onto intermediate next year. Thanks for being excellent role models and best wishes for next year!

Our Parents and Community

Thanks for your amazing support of Onekawa School, especially during the challenging period of the pandemic. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful and caring parent community.

Team Pipi

Team Pipi is our awesome fundraising group. This year they have raised over $20,000 towards the development of our playscape - due for construction in 2023. Thanks to Tash and Kristin, our co-chairpersons for another successful year. A special mention to Sarah Knight, who has held several leadership positions on Team Pipi over six years and is leaving us at the end of the year. Thanks Sarah!

Onekawa School Board of Trustees

Thanks to Anna, Tracey, Sophie, Sarah, Graeme and Maree for your support and setting the strategic direction of the school. Your work behind the scenes is so important and highly valued.

My Staff

What can I say... I feel so fortunate to have the support of such a wonderful group of professionals. Thanks for your efforts and all you have done for our children. I feel so privileged to be part of such an awesome team.

We look forward to seeing our children back next year on Wednesday 1 February for the start of the 2023 school year.

Have a safe and wonderful Christmas and holiday break everyone!

A message from Anna Wairama - Onekawa School BoT Chairperson

2022 has been a great year at Onekawa School despite a difficult beginning with changing COVID levels and amendments to the learning environments for our children. We acknowledge and thank Steve, the senior management team and our wonderful staff that have continued to press forward in a positive direction and ended the 2022 on a high.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees I would like to wish Steve, the staff, our Onekawa families and our wonderful children a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope our school community find joy in the festive season, connect with family and enjoy everything the summer has to offer. We look forward to seeing you all in 2023 ready to embark on the prosperous year ahead.

Nga mihi nui,

Anna Wairama
