Skyview School of STEM
November 16, 2023
From the Principal's Desk
Hello Skyview families,
We are excited at Skyview this week! Students are filled with anticipation for a week off from school and loving the thrill of watching our new playground collect it's final touches.
Please remember that there is no school next week. We will see you all after Thanksgiving on Monday, November 27.
Our playground is almost finished! The students have done such a great job enjoying their recess time without playground equipment, and we tentatively have an opening day of November 28.
Our lost and found is full and the weather is making its changes from fall to winter. Please ask your children to check the lost and found before they leave for break.
In light of Thanksgiving, I am so grateful for Skyview. In reflecting on the past months (and years) I find joy in thinking about the students, families, and staff that I get the opportunity to engage with each day. Skyview is a wonderful school and I feel so honored to get to work here. I hope you all have a restful break and enjoy time with your family and friends.
Sincerely,
Evan Netzer
Skyview Principal
Skyview Spirit Store
**Please note** The spirit Store closes TOMORROW
K&W Printing will have the Skyview Spirit Store open from November 1-17. Please click on the link to place your orders and items will be ready for pickup on December 11. You will place orders and pay online and pick up items at Skyview. We will hold items in the office in case you are purchasing holiday gifts.
Attendance
Please call the attendance line (970)686-8505 before 8:30am if your child is going to be absent from school or report absences in the Parent Portal. An automated call will go out at 8:45am if the student is marked absent and we haven't received a call from the parent. The student will be marked unexcused until we hear from a parent. While it is good to let classroom teachers know via email, please do report absences to the office so that we can properly record them.
**Please note** The District policy for illness is that the student must be 24 hours without symptoms and medications to return to school. They may return to school 24 hours after vomiting, diarrhea, fever, cough/sore throat.

Board of Education Approves Boundary Changes
The Board of Education voted to approve new elementary and middle school boundaries at its November 13 regular meeting. A revised boundary map can be found at https://bit.ly/3qTQJjH. The impact of the changes includes:
Elementary School Students — The new boundary schools for elementary students will take effect for the 2024 - 2025 school year. Students entering second grade at Tozer Primary School and fifth grade at all schools in 2024 - 2025 will have the option to remain at their current school, although transportation will not be provided. Middle School Students — The new boundary schools for middle school students will take effect for the 2025 - 2026 school year. Students entering eighth grade in 2025 - 2026 will have the option to remain at their current school, although transportation will not be provided. High School Students — Boundaries for high school students remain unchanged.
All elementary school families will receive a message at the end of November notifying them of their new boundary school. If families desire to attend a school that is not their assigned boundary school, a Choice Enrollment application will be needed, including those entering second grade at Tozer Primary School and fifth grade at all schools. If your student has been previously accepted to a school via Choice Enrollment, their acceptance will be honored through the remainder of their year(s) at that level (i.e., elementary, middle, or high), and you do not need to re-apply. Overflowing Lost and Found
The Lost and Found is bursting at the seams! With the shift in weather many coats, jackets and hoodies have been left on the playground. Please remind your children to check the lost and found. All items will be donated during Winter Break. We suggest putting the child's name on coats and please double check sizes to be sure that your child has the correct coat. There are some coats of the same style in different sizes.
Inclement Weather Scenarios
There are three potential winter-weather scenarios in our district: a closure, two-hour delay, and early dismissal. In the case of any of these scenarios, we will send a message through Infinite Campus, as well as post on the district’s website and Facebook page as soon as possible. Please make sure your contact information is up-to-date through the Infinite Campus app or website. If you don’t have an Infinite Campus account, visit our Parent Applications Dashboard page for a how-to guide or contact the front office. LEARN MORE
Thanks!

Visiting/Volunteering? Don't forget your ID
As part of our ongoing efforts to increase the safety and security of our schools, we will continue to require all visitors and volunteers to be processed through the Raptor Technologies screening system. All non-staff members wishing to access the school building will need to provide a state / government-issued ID at check in. Volunteers must reapply each school year.
Visitors
Visitors typically do not work with students unsupervised and are not engaging with regular and ongoing volunteer activities. Utilizing a state or government issued ID, all visitors will be screened against the registered sex offender database.
Volunteers (including field trip chaperones)
Volunteers are involved on a more regular and ongoing basis and may be alone with students. All volunteers must complete an application and background check that includes a search of the national criminal database, sex offender list, and terrorist watchlist. Once an account has been created and the application has been approved, you will be able to login and review volunteer opportunities at your selected schools. Apply Now (English|Spanish)
