Opportunity to Share
If you have thought (taught) outside of the box and taken a risk and tried something new in your classroom this year that you would like to share at the Elementary Inservice for the beginning of next school year, please let me know ASAP.
Safety
Please communicate to your homerooms on Monday morning that it is never okay or appropriate to make threats against other students even if they are just joking or are angry in the moment. We want all of our students to feel safe all the time - class, lunch room, bus, etc . . .
End of Year Money
- We have $100 for K-4 classroom teachers to spend on getting ready for the 2018-2019 school year that MUST be spent by next Friday, April 13.
- All of our fee waiver money has been spent on instructional supplies for this school year. Two big purchases made this year were Flocabulary.com (check it out if you haven't already; I sent links to the free trial) and a color poster printer since our old one was dying.
- In the future, Dr. Watson wants all fee waiver money spent by December of the school year.
Custodial Services Report Card
- I need EVERY teacher in the building to give our custodians a letter grade of A, B, C, or D for Cleanliness of Classrooms based on this criteria: trash emptied, floor appearance, sinks cleaned, carpet clean, areas dusted.
- Give your grade to your grade leader by Monday. Also, I need a list of any comments regarding the cleanliness of your classrooms.
New Retention Policy
On Monday night, the board passed a new retention policy that goes into effect immediately. I will put a copy in your mailboxes. In brief, parents should be notified of concerns before the 3rd report card, a promotion plan must be written, then a final meeting with the parent to discuss whether the student has completed the plan or made enough progress toward the promotion plan's goals in order to be promoted to the next grade.
