Mindset of the Month Everything Is Possible
Dream Big
When you are focusing on a goal or trying to do something you have never done before you are dreaming. Dreaming BIG is when you are trying your absolute hardest to reach your goal even when you sometimes think you may not be able to. The bigger your dream is the more you can do!
Embrace Creativity
Embracing creativity means using your imagination and trying new things so you can reach your big dream. You can read a book to learn more, ask a grown-up for advice, or try a new hobby. Embracing creativity means having the courage to do things you have never done!
Think Positive
Being positive means you are thinking happy thoughts. Tell yourself, “I can do it” and, “Today is going to be an awesome day!” If you think happy thoughts and say happy things you will make all the people around you happy too!
Act and Adjust
If you want to learn something new or try something you haven’t ever done before you have to go do it! Sometimes people may tell you it will be too hard. You may decide you want to give up. Don’t listen to people who say mean things about your dreams and don‘t give up on something you really want to do. Even if you don’t do it the first time just keep trying. You can do it!
Morning Meetings

Book Study Books
Successfully implement the transformational math workshop model of instruction through five accessible, manageable steps:
Step 1: Understand Math Workshop
Step 2: Prepare Your Students for Math Workshop
Step 3: Decide Your Math Workshop Structure
Step 4: Facilitate Your Math Workshop
Step 5: Reflect on and Refine Your Math Workshop
Educators are invited to embrace this resource as their own personal “instructional coach,” first exploring what the author refers to as “three buckets” that need to be in place for a highly successful math workshop:
Classroom Arrangement
Routines and Procedures
Mathematics Community
The resource then offers “Twenty Days to a Classroom Culture That Works,” which includes twenty minilessons that support the communication and practice of expectations surrounding the workshop model. From there, it explores three classroom-tested math workshop structures, providing practical ideas for routines, focus lessons, guided math groups, learning stations, and reflections so you can get started with math workshop in your classroom today.
Streaming Video Clips
The online video clips invite you inside K–5 classrooms for a seeing-is-believing look at math workshop in action. Seeing clips of actual teachers and students engaged in math workshop is the next best thing to observing the model in a classroom.
Reproducibles
Templates, tools, and ideas are included and available in downloadable format.
Get past the knowing-doing gap and confidently implement standards-based learning. This book offers a comprehensive look at what standards-based learning looks like in action, from creating formative assessments to using data to inform instruction to transitioning to standards-based grading systems. Instead of comparing students to each other, standards-based learning compares students' proficiency levels to performance standards and learning targets. Each chapter offers readers a well-thought-out action plan for implementation and effective strategies for communicating with students and parents about the classroom changes that will occur during the transition.
Use this book as your action plan for implementing standards-based learning:
- Explore concrete steps for putting standards-based grading, instruction, and learning into action.
- Implement schoolwide change beginning with classroom practices.
- Address common implementation mistakes and challenges.
- Effectively sequence units and align them with unpacked standards and learning targets.
- Create effective proficiency level scales and rubrics.
