Bristow Run ES Panther Press
November 2022
Dear Parents and Guardians,
October has been a busy month full of learning, clubs, field trips and Trick or Treating. Ms. Gamble and I have enjoyed visiting classrooms to engage in learning with our students, eating lunch in the cafeteria, and connecting with our families during the many after hour events we’ve had this year. It feels so good to be able to meet with our families in person again. We have a busy school, and our kids are amazing! I’m proud when I walk the halls and see our students happily engaged in meaningful lessons!
Report cards will be available in ParentVUE on Wednesday, November 9. Parent conferences were held last week. I hope many of you were able to schedule a time to meet with your child’s teacher to review their first quarter progress. If you were not able to attend a conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher to check in on how they’re doing this year. It’s important that parents stay updated on what’s happening in school. Research demonstrates that when school and parents work together, students are more successful.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. We thank you for your support and look forward to a fun-filled November!
Partners in Education,
Mrs. Jeck and Ms. Gamble
Veterans Day Walk of Honor: Wear Red, White & Blue
Bristow Run wants to honor our Military Family Members this month. During the Walk of Honor, Military family members will join their student/students and parade through the BRES hallways for a clap-out to honor our military service guests. Military guests and their families will join us in the library for refreshments after the walk.
We look forward to having our Walk of Honor on Thursday, November 10th at 8:45 AM. All honored guests, please check in at the front office, and do not forget your ID!
One Book One School: Our Friend Hedgehog: The Story of Us
Our Bristow Run Panthers participated in a One School, One Book scavenger hunt challenge on Tuesday, October 25th. All students in grades K-5 will be reading Our Friend Hedgehog: The Story of Us. Classroom teachers will be following a schedule and students will be asked daily trivia questions based on the assigned chapter for that day. In the story, the main character, Hedgehog, loses his beloved best friend: a stuffed animal named Mutty! He is blown away by a terrible storm. Hedgehog sets out on an adventure to find Mutty. It is a true story about bravery, friendship, and adventure. Our BRES students were challenged with "Mission Possible" to find Mutty using several clues that were hidden throughout the building. Please enjoy the kick-off video! 🙂 We had a blast! A special thank you to the volunteers who decorated the bookroom! We could not have done it without you.
Family Literacy Night: November 17th 6:00-7:00 PM
Where is Mutty?
Watch D.O.G.S. Dad's of Great Students!
Our Watch D.O.G program helps provide positive male role models for students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important. Watch Dogs also provide an extra set of eyes and ears to enhance school security, reduce bullying and provide a greater sense of safety throughout the school day. The program's mission is to support principals and teachers by providing willing volunteers while contributing to improved student outcomes.
To learn more about the program, reach out to Bristow Run’s Top Dogs Pete Rossi at pete.g.rossi@gmail.com or Dale Thoman at dalejthoman@yahoo.com.
