The Underground Railroad

Helping people get to freedom

Moses-Let my people go!

Harriet Tubman was a slave who escaped, then helped other slaves to be free. Harriet Tubman picked up people on the trail, and no one with her ever got caught. She dressed up like a man since people were looking for a woman. When she was younger, she got in the way of a field hand being punished, and received a blow to the head that resulted in narcolepsy. She led several members of her own family to freedom. During the Civil War, she was also a nurse and a spy.
