Communication Sent to Junior and Senior Parents

This week, our campus will be completing a variety of assessments. On Tuesday and Thursday, April 9 and 11, some of our juniors and seniors will qualify for late arrival at 10:35 AM. Our schedule is listed below:

Tuesday, April 9th

ELA 1 STAAR EOC Test – all 9th grade students, Retesters (students that have not passed ELA 1 STAAR EOC)

ELA 2 STAAR Review – all 10th grade students not involved in ELA 1 retesting

SAT School Day – Juniors that have previously registered for SAT School Day

TSI Testing – Seniors that have previously registered for TSI Testing

Mandatory O-lab or Attendance Make Up Hours – Juniors and Seniors identified by Counselors or Admin as being in need of credit or attendance hour recovery

AP Reviews – Juniors and seniors that signed up through their AP teacher for various review sessions

**Juniors and Seniors that do not belong in any of the above groups, will arrive to school at 10:35 AM. Juniors report to the gym and Seniors report to the auditorium.

Thursday, April 11th

ELA 2 STAAR EOC Test – all 10th grade students, Retesters (students that have not passed ELA 2 STAAR)

Regular Schedule without advisory – all 9th grade students

Mandatory O-lab or Attendance Make Up Hours – Juniors and Seniors identified by Counselors or Admin as being in need of credit or attendance hour recovery

AP Reviews – Juniors and seniors that signed up through their AP teacher for various review sessions

**Juniors and Seniors that do not belong in any of the above groups, will arrive to school at 10:30 AM and report to their 4th period class. 4th period begins at 10:40 AM.

Per the State of Texas, all students must be in attendance at least 4 hours on each instructional day. Non-testers classified as juniors and seniors would be allowed “late arrival” and therefore be present for official attendance-taking at the conclusion of the STAAR testing. The approved state waiver will allow our district to take official attendance at an alternate time. If any non-testing junior or senior is not present by 10:40 a.m., they will be marked absent. Students who are not required to test and who do not show up can be in jeopardy of loss of course credit. Student absences will also affect exemption eligibility for final exams.

Please contact your student’s grade level administrator or counselor if you have any questions. Students MUST be signed in at assigned locations to avoid unnecessary absences. Lunch schedules will be adjusted on Tuesday, April 9th. Both Tuesday and Thursday will be closed campus days – no lunch deliveries will be allowed for any students.

Thank you!

Setting Up Challenge Questions on New Portal

Click Here for Job Aid to complete this task - everyone MUST complete

As we continue to provide you enhanced services, Information Technology will publish a Self-Service portal (MyFortBendISD) for resetting your password. The new portal introduces a security feature that is new to the district, challenge questions, that simplifies the password recovery process while adding a level of protection to your district identity. In addition to setting up three required challenge questions, staff will be also create three Help Desk verification question and answer sets. The Help Desk verification provides the ability for the Customer Service Center to assist you with processing a forgotten password. The portal will be accessible within the district as well as available from home, using either district or personal devices.

As this feature becomes available at campuses, Teachers will have the ability to assist students with resetting passwords within the same system.

Use of Edgenuity for Grade Repair

Thank you to all of our teachers that are utilizing grade repair in Edgenuity to increase student success! Please remember that if you are assigning units or lessons in Edgenuity for grade repair - you must use those courses marked Blended. OC and CR are for full credit classes.

If you are not yet taking advantage of Edgenuity for grade repair and would like additional information, please contact Mrs. Blake or Coach Lane. They can assist you with log in procedures and assigning lessons.

Don't forget to recognize your students with a POSITIVE OFFICE REFERRAL!!

The Positive Office Referral should be used when a teacher wishes to reward a student for something academic or behavioral. This differs from the ROAR award in that Positive Office referrals can be issued at any time and for any positive behavior worthy of reward. The ROAR award is for students working hard over a period of time and producing academic results. To submit a Positive Office Referral, CLICK HERE. Students that receive a POR will be called in by an administrator and will also be awarded 25 Tiger Pride points!

Exemption Information

Clarifications/FAQ

- If a student is doubled up in Science, can they exempt both? Yes, they can as long as they don't exceed the total number of exemptions.. For example, a junior may choose to exempt two science courses, 1 social studies, 1 math, and choose to take their English final.

- What absences count towards exemptions? All absences coded E and U will be counted towards exemption totals. T and L will also count - 3 tardies/lates equals 1 absence for exemption purposes.
