Bear Tracks
May 25, 2017
A Note From the Principal:
Dear Bear Tavern Staff,
Happy Thursday!
I am putting out Bear Tracks a day early, because I don't know about you, but I certainly am not going to feel like reading anything while I'm having fun at Field Day!!!
I will say upfront that the article of the week is a video and it is 24 min in it's entirety, but 100% worth the listen. There is a little bit of humor mixed in, but a really powerful message. It may be worth listening on your phone, etc. while you're getting ready or even in the car! Give it a listen...
I felt like I had no choice but to make it the article of the week, especially in the week following our visit from Reverend Caldwell and Ambassador Githae from Kenya. I was so incredibly proud of our students and staff and I appreciate your flexibility in preparing for the visit. I am hoping that our kids will never forget the good deed that we were able to do, will be empowered to take chances and dream big for the rest of their lives and that we all continue to "throw darts at the dart board!" (watch video to get it)...
Enjoy Field Day tomorrow - there is no where else in the world you will find one like ours!!! Way to go Suzanne!
Next week is June! We'll get lots of rest in the summer; let's finish really strong and enjoy the moments in the next few weeks!
Sincerely,
Chris
Key Information:
- Don't forget to order lunch for Field Day if you are interested.
- I will be scheduling a meeting of the Outdoor Classroom Committee for Monday 6/5 after school. I Met with Dr. Drawbridge, the head of the HVEF about the Outdoor Learning Space at BT. She had some really great input and ideas about how to get funding for our project from some new sources that could help make it a reality even more quickly. In a nutshell, we are going to submit four to five independent grants (one for each section of the design), and we are going to pursue partnerships with corporations, such as BristolMyers Squibb, Jansen and Rosedale Mills. Each organization has a history of funding specific projects that would match many of our areas. If you'd like to help with the next steps, come on by. We'll meet in room A-2. Our vision is in the process of becoming a reality!
- Again, Thank you to everyone who volunteered to participate in a Staff Experience! CLICK HERE for a list of each family/student that won an experience in case you don't know who won yours. Please reach out right away if you need anything or if I can help with anything. We raised over $17,000 for our PTO with your help!
