Spotlight on Willis Techy Teachers!
Volume I - April 22, 2013
We Are So Proud of our Techy Teachers!
The iCoaches have been watching all of our teachers learn and grow by using technology in their classrooms. We are so happy that we could be a part of these activities. We would love to spotlight a few of our "Techy Teachers" from our campuses in Willis ISD.
QR Codes! Featuring: Mrs. Sara Cummins and Ms. Jennifer Richter
We have been seeing these pop up everywhere! Two of our fabulous 6th grade teachers at Brabham utilized them in a great way this week. Students used QR codes to access presentations on South Asia and then used their research to create flip books.
Animoto! Featuring: Mrs. Dana Schultz
The 5th grade students at Parmley Elementary worked to create short videos using Animoto. The students were paired up and assigned a science vocabulary word. They were then asked to find pictures to define the word and create a short video. Mrs. Schultz had a viewing party where the students watched all the videos in preparation for the science STAAR test. Here is an example by Cori Teer and Akerah Gardin on recessive traits. http://goo.gl/opCyp
More QR Codes! Featuring: Mrs. Tisa McCrorey
The 3rd grade students in Mrs. McCrorey's class at A.R. Turner were also using QR codes last week. They scanned the codes and each code gave them a sentence. Their job was to decide is the sentence was simple or compound. According to Mrs. McCrorey "They were excited and engaged. It was fun to see them working together and being genuinely interested in the activity that they were completing."
QR Code Crazy! Featuring: Mrs. Chanda Burd and Elisa Holcomb
Another campus is using QR Codes! Mrs. Burd's and Mrs. Holcomb's 3rd grade Dual Language classes from Cannan scanned the codes and were taken to STAAR math practice questions. This activity is in preparation for the Math STAAR test to be given on April 23, 2013
