Helping CANS
The NHS at New Tech challenged the student body of Belton New Tech to bring cans for the Helping Hands ministry in Belton. The ministry provides food, clothing, and medical services to those in need here in Belton. Overall the students donated more than 730 cans of food with a total weight of 564 pounds. That's SO AMAZING!!! Congratulations, everyone!!!
Debating With Shakespeare
This week, students in English I began oral arguments for Shakespeare Moot Court. Students debated a legal case using Shakespeare's plays as law instead of American law. After months of reading various plays, researching cultural and historical context, writing and revising legal briefs, and practicing oral arguments, students are finally showcasing the culmination of all their skills in this project.
Why A Day Of Yellow?
This week we celebrated The Spirit Of New Tech, and every day we "unleashed" a specific theme within that context. Thursday was, "Dress in yellow or banana themed clothes to celebrate the life of Rachael Westberg." Please click the link below to learn the significance of this major aspect of The Spirit Of New Tech.

Help Us Egg The Community
Please consider joining our efforts as we support BNT@Waskow's School fundraiser. The school will be selling opportunities to be "Egged"/"Egg my Yard" throughout our community. They will need about 3,000 plastic easter eggs, candy and non-candy items for inside the eggs, and plastic easter baskets. Please consider donating an item or two to help offset the fundraiser costs. Thank you in advance!
Drop off your items now through March 31st in the front office.

First Art Talent Show
March 10, New Tech students shared their skills in the first ever Art Talent Show. The show featured both 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional pieces, as well as the “Itty Bitty Art Show,” a miniature art gallery put together by the students. The Art Talent Show features pieces by both art students and non-art students, and truly highlights the creative nature of our community.
In case you miss them, the "Itty Bitty Art Show" and cars from the art car parade project will be on display in the library after Spring Break.

B.E.E.F. Scholarships Still Open
The Belton Educational Enrichment Foundation scholarship applications open Monday, February 6th for all graduating Seniors in Belton ISD. To login, you'll need to use your BISD google email address. The application will close at midnight on Sunday, April 2nd, so play it safe, and submit your applications before April Fool's Day!
This year, the scholarship applications are being processed through Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope is an online awards management platform and marketplace. This changes the application process for all of you. It is worth taking a look at the Kaleidoscope Help Articles ahead of time.
There will be 59 questions, for which Kaleidoscope recommends you allow 49 minutes. Some of these questions will be basic contact information. In the past, there was a requirement to submit an essay of 250-350 words. Be prepared to write an essay with your application (and named with your name in the title, not "untitled").
Transfer Applications for Next Year Due March 31
All schools and district offices will be closed for spring break the week of March 13-17. We look forward to seeing students back at school on March 20!
