Message from the Principal

Dear Advantage Arts Family,

This has been a great week! We are adjusting to the ever changing Utah weather. We are excited to say that our enrollment is fantastic for next year. I appreciate the efforts of our wonderful families helping with yard signs, social media posts/comments, and talking to your neighbors and friends. We truly have an amazing Advantage Arts Academy community. Please continue to spread the word.

The winner of the APPLE TV is number 17! Don't worry if you forgot your number we will contact the winner to collect their prize. Please continue to proudly show off the school with your yard sign!

We are prepared to start waiting lists in all of our grades, so *PLEASE re-enroll your student for next year. We have reserved spots for all of our current students to register. It is as easy as clicking a button on your students' Aspire account. If you have any questions please reach out to our front office.

With the growth of our school, we want to make sure we are making positive changes to next year. We are happy to announce our first All-day kindergarten class. For right now, we are only having one section. Once that section is full the priority will go to the students enrolled in the AM/PM classes. Our hope is to grow that All-day program.

I hope we all have a great week!

Dress Code Reminder:

There have been quite a few questions about dress code in the past few weeks. I wanted to remind our families of the appropriate bottoms for school:

  • Uniform pants must be the uniform style (Dockers’ style) in solid navy, tan/khaki, black or grey. No tears, rips or holes will be permitted.
  • Jumpers, shorts and skirts must be at least fingertip length and may not be cut-offs.
  • No sweatpants, yoga pants, “jeggings” or leggings.”
  • No logos, patterns, lace, sequins, etc.

Sincerely,

Mr. Kano

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day!

We just love seeing all of the creative ways our Advantage Arts Students celebrate! Here are some of the fun outfits we saw this Thursday for St. Patrick's Day and some of the fun activities the classes all did. Here are just a couple pictures from the celebrations!

Center Stage

1st Grade Landforms

In first grade students finished up their landforms sculptures that they started last week. They painted their landforms and added final details. They made sure to include mountains, plateaus, valleys, and lakes on their sculptures. Many of them added volcanoes too. Students loved making these projects!

2nd Grade Leprechauns

In second grade, students did a direct drawing exercise to draw a leprechaun in honor of St. Patrick's Day. They followed along as I drew a leprechaun and then they added their own spin on it. Students loved getting to follow directions and use their imaginations to create their own leprechaun.

4th Grade Wave Art

In fourth grade students have been learning about waves. They learned about light and sound waves. In art, we focused on sound waves and students made a "self-portrait" with the sound wave of their voice saying their name. They transferred that wave onto watercolor paper and got to paint and decorate it. They loved getting to explore with different materials.
