Global Warming
Its causes and how we can help
What causes global warming?
Global warming is caused by the emission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. Certain gases in the atmosphere prevent heat from escaping earth into space. some gases include: nitrous oxide, water vapor, carbon dioxide, and methane. Humans are negatively affecting the natural greenhouse emissions. Natural CO2 emissions come from respiration and volcanic eruptions to name some and those do result in the natural heating of the world, but humans further the emissions of CO2 through extreme deforestation and burning fossil fuels.
Imagine if everyone in the world threw out one or two bottles of water. There would be a large collection of waste.
This is similar to what global warming is. The amount of greenhouse gases are increasing because everyone is using up fossil fuels and other things that create these emissions. It causes a buildup of the gases creating a larger amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
How Can We Help?
Using LED Lightbulbs
Because of their longevity, they reduce waste. They are also more efficient than florescent lightbulbs because they use less energy.
Stop Deforestation
Trees absorb carbon dioxide; they store carbon and release oxygen. Preventing deforestation could help decrease the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Use Alternate Commuting Methods
Reducing the amount of cars on the road reduces the amount of fossil fuels being used. One could use alternate methods of transportation such as public transportation, carpooling and walking.
