Open Enrollment/Tuition Application Window for the Kenton County School District is

November 29, 2021 - January 14, 2022.

• Current open enrolled/tuition students were given an application to take home on 11/29/2021.

• The deadline to return applications is January 14, 2022.

• Applications received after January 14, 2022 will NOT be accepted.

• Applications will only be considered if there is adequate space at the grade level requested.

• Student grades, attendance, and behavior, and parent cooperation with the school are also determining factors.

• Need an application? It can be accessed through the KCSD Website once it has been updated or you can access an application in the school office.

The KCSD Kindergarten Registration day will be on Tuesday, January 11th, 2022

We will be hosting an in-person registration event in the cafeteria here at Piner on Tuesday, January 11th during the following time frames.

• 9:00 - 10:00 am
• 2:00 - 3:00 pm
• 5:00 - 6:30 pm

In the meantime we are collecting information using the intent to enroll form linked below. If you have a student who will be entering Kindergarten next year or if you know someone who has a Kindergartner who will be starting next year, please fill out the survey below.

Intent to Enroll in Kindergarten 22-23

Our school school specific Kindergarten information has been updated and can be found on the district website along with other important kindergarten registration information.

It is that time of year when weather is uncertain. As we head into these colder winter months we wanted to make sure all families were aware of what these NTI days will look like at Piner.

On the days that school closes and NTI days are used, students will have assignments (either online or previously sent home in a folder) to complete at home.

On these NTI days students will complete their NTI assignments for that particular day. These NTI assignments will be a review of content previously taught or it will be a practice of skills that have been worked on throughout the year. Teachers will be available on NTI days to assist students and parents by phone, email, Google Meet, Google Voice, etc. All NTI assignments should be completed at home and submitted or returned to school within 7 calendar days. Student participation in NTI day assignments is monitored.

IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE INFORMATION

As a reminder, if your student is absent, please make sure to call the school to inform our staff of the absence. When your student returns to school, send a parent or doctor note for the absent date(s). An attendance note (parent note or doctor note) is required within three (3) days any time your child is out of school, including late arrivals and early dismissals. If your child is experiencing COVID - related symptoms, a doctor’s note or negative COVID test is required to return.

Keep in mind that a maximum of ten (10) excused days each year may be excused with a signed note from a parent/guardian OR doctor.

If there are more than ten (10) days excused, a Medical Excuse Form must be completed, stating the student was seen in the doctor’s office, and returned for review by school officials within three (3) days of the absence, for the absence to be excused. A new form will need to be submitted for each absence after 10 days and will be considered a doctor's note.

Now that the weather has turned cold, please be sure your student is wearing a coat to school each day. Classes will go outside for recess unless the temperature drops below freezing. If your student does not have a coat, please contact Jody Bohman at jody.bohman@kenton.kyschools.us
