Improvise, Adapt, Overcome...
Please have your student check their emails. Yesterday I sent out a series of emails to students about missing assignments. If your child received an email about an assignment, it means they need to complete the assignment as soon as possible. Please have your student work on these items as it will help prepare them for Wednesday's benchmark test as well as improve their 2nd quarter grade. The most important of these assignments is the Protist Poster project . Please have your student contact me if they have questions or concerns about these missing assignments. I am here to help.
Assignments and Grading
If you want to know what your student is doing in science class each day, check out the science class announcements in "blackboard". I post a daily agenda each day that lists all of the work with any links and PDFs needed to complete assignments.
The only homework I typically assign is work that was not completed in class.
Extra help sessions are available after school on Mondays (2:25-3:15) and there will be a "Work Session" after school every Thursday (2:25-3:15) to help students organize their interactive notebooks. All students are welcome to attend any or all of these sessions.
Students may correct or re-do any science assignment for a better grade. The Friday before the end of each quarter is the deadline for these "improved" assignments.
Grades are updated in blackboard by Monday afternoon each week. If a student was absent a "1" will be entered as a grade to indicate that they were absent but need to make up the assignment. A "0" in the grade book means the student has not completed the assignment in the recommended amount of time. These grades are only place holders until the student turns in the assignment, at which point the assignment will be graded and the "real" grade entered into blackboard.
