Skeans Weekly News

Things are great in 308!

Thank you families!

Families, you rocked it at Parent Night! I do believe that our classroom had one of the highest attended meetings of the night, if not the highest! Thank you for coming. I'm sure it was obvious my specialty is working with 5 and 6 year olds and not public speaking! I do appreciate getting the chance to go a little more in depth about school, our goals, and the Leader in Me. Thank you for coming and I really do mean it when I say you can ask me any question any time.

What we are working on.....

Reading:

Follow words from left to right, top to bottom and page by page.

Understand that words are separated by spaces in print.

Recognize and name all upper- and lowercase letters of the alphabet.

Writing:

Develop a piece of writing (a picture) that has a clear idea, lots of details (who, where, and what is happening), and starting to label/write with some beginning sounds or words

Math:

We are rocking first quarter math goals. We can count 1-10 (we can all count higher), count 1-5 objects in a group, label a group of 1-5 objects with a picture, and identify a circle, square, and rectangle regardless of orientation

Science: We are learning how we are like scientists and how scientists use scientific tools

Social Studies: We are learning about the American Flag
