Denmark Digest
February 2022
Happy February!
Within this newsletter, you will find information about the registration process for 2022 - 2023. Students will have the opportunity to select their classes this month, and staffing decisions will be made based upon those selections. This year, the elective portal and the waiver will be open at the same time.
Winter sports are drawing to a conclusion and spring sports are kicking off this month so we expect campus to be busy from now until the end of the year. Hopefully, you and your students can join us at one of our events in the near future.
As we concluded the month of January, we celebrated our Students of the Month. Please click HERE to meet the students who were selected. It is our goal to continue to recognize additional students each month.

Important Information for the Scheduling Process for Students for the 2022 - 2023 School Year
Dual Enrollment Night
Dual Enrollment Night will be held on February 10th at 6pm in the DHS Cafeteria. Come learn about dual enrollment from the counseling department, students currently in the program, and college advisors from some of our local schools. If you have a rising 11th or 12th grader who is interested, we would encourage students to join the meeting as well. The presentation will be posted to our website for those that are not able to attend. The Forsyth County Schools deadline for DE is April 29, 2022.
Events for Rising 9th Graders
COVID Mitigation Updates
- Masks are encouraged for students and staff. We will have masks available for students in the front office.
- No visitors will be allowed on campus during the school day.
- A virtual format will be used for all meetings, including IEPs, 504s, parent conferences, etc.
- Transition meetings and parent nights will move to a virtual format during this time.
- The courtyard will be open during all lunches to add spacing to the cafeteria. On inclement weather days, students will be asked to eat in their classrooms.
- When we are informed of a positive COVID case, contract tracing will occur, and parents will be notified if their child was sitting within 6 feet of a positive case. It will be the parents' decision as to whether to quarantine an exposed child who is free of symptoms.
- Please use this link to report positive cases of COVID.
- Extra cleaning and disinfecting will occur each night to help with the spread of germs.
Extra Help and Makeup Opportunities
Tutorials: Each week we have four tutorials where students can go to sessions offered by their teachers to get extra help or to makeup assignments they have missed. To help students makeup longer assignments, we will combine our tutorials in to one long tutorial on the last Thursday of each month. Please see the graphic below with the dates for the long tutorials.
Dane Academy: Our next Dane Academy session will take place on Saturday, 2/5 from 10a-12p. Dane Academy allows students an opportunity to make-up tests or work on missing assignments. Students are referred to this session by a teacher based on class progress. If your student has missing assignments or tests in a course, please be on the lookout for communication from the teacher regarding referral to this session.

SENIORS
Medallions
Senior students are eligible to earn a medallion at graduation in the following areas: advanced academic, fine arts, foreign language, and/or career tech. To earn a medallion, students must be a member of an honor society and have completed at least 3 courses within their area of completion, as well as additional requirements located here. To qualify, students must complete a Pathway Verification Form and turn it into their honor society sponsor by February 17th, 2022. If a student qualifies for a medallion in multiple areas, they will receive a “pin” for each additional pathway. Students will only receive 1 medallion.
*Note: No counselor signature is necessary on the paperwork because the Honor Society Sponsors will turn everything into the counselors. Also, community service requirements are waived.
