Cardinal Connection
February 4, 2020
Hello Cardinal Families,
During the month of February, we celebrate both Black History Month and Healthy Heart Week. Again this year, we are holding a districtwide spirit week February 8-11.
Monday - Wear Green and Eat your Greens
Tuesday - Wear Heart Health (pink or hearts)
Wednesday - Stay Active - wear workout gear
Thursday - Wear Red (Healthy Heart Day)
In other news, Friday February 5th, marks the grading term for Third Quarter Progress Reports. You can expect to receive your CLHS student's progress report by the end of next week.
Lastly, we would like to remind our students and their families that there is NO SCHOOL on Friday February 12 and Monday February 15th in observance of Lincoln's/Washington's Birthdays and President's Day. Have a safe and wonderful four day weekend.
From the Athletic Director -
We are excited to announce that the state and CIF is now allowing schools to begin playing some sports. Students now have the opportunity to participate in Cross Country, Track, Golf, Baseball and Softball. Game schedules for these sports are being worked out and will start later in the season. However, practice can start now. Baseball and Softball games will not be allowed until we are in the red tier. We will be following the California Department of Public Health guidelines for youth sports and schools.
Things to Know:
1) You must be eligible to play, which means at least a 2.0 grade point average (unweighted) with no F’s.
2) You need to get a physical and fill out an athletic packet. Packets can be picked up at the high school office. Please return completed form to the high school office or give it to your coach.
3) Under the current CDPH guidelines, the school will not be able to provide transportation for athletes to games/matches/meets or practices. Until the current situation changes, parents will be responsible for getting their child to and from the events.

It is a chance to connect with other students and their teachers for a collaborative learning experience. If your child experiences difficulties, please have them contact their teachers or school counselor. If you have any attendance questions, please contact Mrs. Roderick or Ms. Frediani to assist you. We continue to encourage your child to participate fully by being on time, focused, and ready to attend fully engaged with the course, class, and teacher.
