Back to Basics take 2
Now that we are past midterms and entering the second semester of school I think it is an excellent time to reflect and rethink about the basics when it comes to technology skills and technology integration.
First and foremost continuous reflection is a critical component to being proactive and forward thinking in any profession or learning path. We do not want to spend a great deal of time dwelling on the past, but we do need to take a brief minute to synthesize what went well, and what we could improve on. This will help us continue our drive forward while correcting our path to be efficient and more productive.
Questions to ask
- What went well last semester? Last Quarter?
- What didn't go as well as I wanted? What are some reasons this may have been?
- Do I have all the skills I need to work efficiently with technology integration? What do I need to learn?
- Do my students have the necessary skills to be successful with technology integration? What do they need to learn?
Having answers to these questions will help you celebrate your strengths are and know where more learning is required. With this information, you can push the boundaries or try new projects with students based on the skills they already have.
3 ways to develop your learning around technology integration skills.
- Grow and expand your PLN to learn from others around the globe.
- There are tons of free self-paced online courses out there, join one and hone a new skill
- Find a local Workshop or local Edcamp to attend.
Learning opportunities will rarely come to you, stay proactive and seek out these new opportunities.
