Sock it to 'EM
Student council is partnering with Justin Rudd for his Sock It To “Em sock drive for the homeless. We are committing to collecting 400+ packs of socks.
Will you help us meet this goal?
Please bring in packaged socks to school in the month of January. Black socks are most wanted since they do not show dirt. Men’s calf socks are in greatest demand. The collected socks go to agencies in the Long Beach area serving men, women and youth in need.

Covid Policy update - January 14, 2022
Contact Tracing and Home Testing
Starting the week of Jan. 17, when a positive case is confirmed in a classroom, all students in that class will receive an exposure notification.
By Friday, Jan. 21, each LBUSD school will distribute a box with two COVID-19 antigen rapid tests to students in grades K-12. After the first test kit distribution, additional kits will be distributed home with each student within two weeks.
COVID-19 tests are recommended for your child when you receive a notification that your child has been exposed.
When testing your child due to an exposure, tests are recommended for use three to five days after the exposure.
If the home test is negative:
No further action is required. The student may return to school.
If the home test is positive:
Keep your child home and notify the school.
If a student has tested positive for COVID-19, before returning to school, they will still need to produce a negative test administered through a medical entity such as the local health department or a local pharmacy.
Please note that at-home testing also is separate from the continued testing that is taking place for students participating in LBUSD sports and athletics. These students will continue to be subject to testing as per the recommendations of CDPH.
Community/Household Exposures
These students continue to be eligible for shortened home quarantine, which can end after day seven if the student tests negative on or after day five from the date of the last exposure.
Masking
Masks continue to be required indoors for all students and staff. Masks also are recommended outdoors and are required outdoors for students who have been exposed (for 10 days after exposure).
COVID Test Clinics
Students and employees who need a COVID-19 test can still take advantage of testing clinics offered by Long Beach Health and Human Services on Mondays through Fridays at Cabrillo High School, 2001 Santa Fe Ave., Long Beach. Enter from Hill Street. Testing is offered 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of a 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. break each day. These clinics are specifically for LBUSD staff and students only. PCR and antigen rapid tests will be offered. No appointment is needed. The Cabrillo clinic will be open during the Jan. 17 Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
Thank you again to our LBUSD families for supporting our efforts to offer in-person learning with these health and safety measures.
Long Beach Unified School District
COVID student Updates
January 07, 2022
The Long Beach Unified School District is sharing updated guidance from health officials regarding COVID-19 prevention protocols. LBUSD also will be offering COVID testing clinics starting next week in partnership with Long Beach Health and Human Services only for school district employees and students who are symptomatic or potentially coming off isolation.
Home Quarantine / Isolation Guidance
Isolation: Students who test positive for COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to isolate at home for at least five days. A student can only end their isolation after day five if they: 1) are asymptomatic (without any symptoms), and 2) test negative on or after day five.
Modified Quarantine: If a child is not fully vaccinated, and both the exposed student and the infected person were wearing masks in a supervised school setting, the exposed child can still attend school in-person if they:
Remain symptom free
Continue to wear a mask
Get tested twice within a week (Monday and Thursday); once right after the parent receives exposure notification, and again three days later
Do not participate in extracurricular or community activities, such as sports, until their modified quarantine ends
Students who are fully vaccinated may continue to attend school in-person while watching for symptoms for 14 days.
Mask Requirements
Masks are required to be worn indoors at all times while on school grounds (except when students/staff are actively eating or drinking). Additionally, masks are strongly recommended to be worn outdoors while on school grounds. Medical/surgical grade masks will be available for students as applicable at our school sites. Double masking (wearing a medical grade mask with a cloth mask over it) is also recommended.
COVID Test Clinics
Students and employees who need a COVID-19 test can take advantage of testing clinics offered by Long Beach Health and Human Services on Mondays through Fridays starting Jan. 10 at Cabrillo High School, 2001 Santa Fe Ave, Long Beach. Enter from Hill Street. Testing will be offered 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the exception of a 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. break each day. These clinics are specifically for LBUSD staff and students only. PCR and antigen rapid tests will be offered. No appointment is needed.
