Gladstone High bands receive highest rating
Gladstone High School’s bands submitted two performances to the OSAA State Culminating Event (replacing the state championship) and earned the highest rating possible of "Superior." The judges appreciated the musicians’ attention to detail and their ability to overcome the challenges of COVID.
"The band's cohesiveness, resonant sound, and attention to detail are only achieved through a great deal of persistent and focused work,” said adjudicator Mary. Lou Boderman. “I congratulate you for an outstanding performance that was a pleasure to listen to.”
Gladstone High senior honored by Ford Scholars program
The Ford Scholars program awarded Jay Martinez Smith a renewable scholarship that covers 90 percent of his unmet college costs. He plans to study engineering at Oregon State University.
Martinez Smith was selected for his academic potential, work ethic, commitment to community service, and leadership skills. From a competitive pool of more than 900 applicants across Oregon and Siskiyou County, CA, he was one of 130 recipients.
Gladstone High to stage Frozen -- Tickets on sale for this week's shows!
Drama students at Gladstone High will present Frozen, Jr. Based on the Broadway musical, the play tells the story of princesses Elsa and Anna, who discover their hidden potential and the special bond between sisters. The musical is appropriate for all ages.
Tickets for the live stream performance can be purchased at https://bit.ly/2TfFZe1. The price is $10 for adults, $7 for students, or $35 per family. Shows will broadcast June 4, 5, and 6 at 7 p.m.
Gladstone High names new assistant principal
Rebecca Shook will be the new assistant principal at Gladstone High School. A Gladstone resident, she brings administrative experience from the West Linn-Wilsonville District, where this year. she led the district’s high school online program and also Interim Principal of the Arts & Technology High School. She replaces Patti Alexander, who retired in June 2020.
"I am excited to be serving as the new Assistant Principal at Gladstone High School, and I can’t wait to meet our students and help support them in reaching their highest potential," said Shook "It is important to me to be a part of a school community where a culture of care is valued and supported and I am grateful for the opportunity to work with such a dynamic staff that is creating a truly comprehensive student experience."
Before starting her administrative career, Shook taught biology and anatomy at Wilsonville High School while serving in a number of leadership roles, including athletics. A former Division 1 soccer player, she has coached at different levels.
“I am really thrilled to have her be here with a variety of experiences to help lead GHS forward for years to come,” said Principal Kevin Taylor. “She is known for her ability to listen, make thoughtful decisions, and communicate clearly.”
Earn money to fund your student’s school and college expenses
Gladstone parents are invited to join the PPG, which provides the opportunity to work concessions at the Moda Center, Providence Park, and Memorial Coliseum while earning funds [at least $70 per shift] to cover your studetn’s school and college expenses.
Linda Alberico, Head Secretary at John Wetten Elementary has been involved with this group for over eight years and has funded her two children to go to Outdoor School, the East Coast Trip as well as their athletics, choir, theater, and other fees throughout their middle school and high school years.
“Funds add up quickly and can also be used for college expenses,” she said. “I’m very happy this opportunity is now opening up to other North Clackamas and Gladstone families. Parents, guardians, and students 16 and over are encouraged to join the group.”

As schools prepare for full time classroom learning in the 2021-22 school year, we need parents/guardians to complete the annual Online Registration Verification for each student who will be attending Gladstone Schools in the fall. This process ensures we have your current contact information and also helps us plan to welcome your student next year. Please complete this process as soon as possible.

*Be sure to select “2021-22 school year” as you begin.
*If you are registering a kindergarten student, you will need to complete the registration verification process of the older siblings prior to registering your kindergartener.

Tour the GCCF Kindergarten and register for fall
The Gladstone School District welcomes fall Kindergarten families to Connect to Kindergarten. This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the Kindergarten environment and community that your child will experience.
This event will happen across 3 Wednesdays in May and June. Families may sign up for a tour of our classrooms and program overview at the Gladstone Center for Children and Families led by our Kindergarten staff.
Our tours are limited to those currently registered or interested in enrolling in the 2021-2022 school year.
