Clinton Elementary School

A Special Back to School Edition of the Clinton Bear Facts!

September 12, 2021

Dear Clinton Families,

Dear Clinton Families,

Welcome to Clinton! My name is Jennifer Connors, and I am the Principal of Clinton Elementary! I am eagerly awaiting the start of the school year tomorrow and the arrival of our Clinton Bears. At 8:05 am the first bell will ring and your children will be welcomed by amazing teachers and staff to begin the 2021-2022 school year.

Due to Covid-19 Safety Protocols, as well as the ongoing construction at Clinton, a few changes to our procedures were necessary. Please read this newsletter carefully for information on Clinton Recess/Lunch Blocks, new Arrival & Dismissal Plans, SOMSD Student Code of Conduct & Restorative Justice 2021-2022 Edition, and general reminders regarding the requirement to wear masks while on campus and reminders on where to park.

I am excited to begin our year together at Clinton Elementary, an amazing school in a world-class school district! Thank you for your support as we prepare to ring in the new school year!

Fondly, Jennifer Connors, Principal & Zoila Correa, Assistant Principal

Arrival & Dismissal

Whenever possible, please consider walking your child(ren) to Clinton, as we do not have parking for visitors. Please do not pull into the parking lot, as this is reserved for busses and staff. Underhill Field will also be closed for parking and as a "cut through" when walking.

If you must drive, please plan to park several blocks over from the building and to walk. Also, please park at least five feet from any driveway. You should plan to park near your child's arrival/dismissal area, as due to construction and crowds, it may be difficult to walk around the school building. See the map below! Reminder - masks must be worn by both children and parents/guardians.

Big picture
Please fill out this form daily by 10:00 AM if you will be picking up your child for Off-Campus Lunch. Students must be picked up at the start of their recess/lunch block and returned when the block ends. The parent/guardian must sign the student out at Door 1 (Main Entrance). Please bring identification. The parent/guardian must also sign the student back in at the end of the Recess/Lunch Block. If procedures are not followed by parents, then the privilege of "Off-Campus Lunch" will be revoked by Administration.

As per Board policy the "Student Code of Conduct" is to be disseminated annually to all school staff, students, and parents. District 1:1 Chromebook Initiative

As part of the District’s goal of continuing to integrate the use of technology into our K-12 curriculum and cultivating 21st-century skills, the 1:1 Chromebook initiative will continue to provide all students with Chromebook laptops to use both during the school day and at home as part of our evolving teaching and learning process.

Please refer to the Fall 2021 Return to School Guidebook for information regarding the District's 1:1 initiative (starting on pg. 25), Chromebook distribution schedules, general expectations for use, and other important information. Please note students in grades 3 - 12 (who have their Chromebooks in hand) are expected to begin bringing their devices to school beginning on Mon., September 13. PreK - 2 families will be alerted when to start bringing in devices to school.
