Spring 1 Term 2017
Happy New Year!
This term we will be holding many curriculum events to help you to support your child. Please look at the date section.
Our new topic
Our topic for the term is Our Britain. Here is a summary of what the children will be learning across the curriculum.
Over the Spring term children will write a story based on The Queens Hat written by Steve Antony. They will learn to tell the story using a story map. Once this is secure we will adapt the story by changing the setting and characters. A big focus will also be on improving sentences focusing on punctuation, vocabulary and ensuring they make sense. Children will also have daily phonics sessions and handwriting and a weekly visit to the school's library.
This half term we will be learning to recognise , name and describe 3D shapes. We will also learn about halving and doubling numbers and quantities. We will continue to add and subtract but this will be through problem solving.
In computing we will be learning how to safely search for images on the internet and what to do to keep safe. We will then learn how to copy and paste images from the internet and create our own PowerPoint presentation. In geography we will be learning about the United Kingdom, learning to identify and name the countries and some of the landmarks in these. In science we will be learning about the weather and seasons and parts of a plant.
