Home & School President's Letter
Happy fall! What an amazing last few weeks we have had a Prairie Point! The Home & School board was very excited to give every kindergarten – 5th grade student a grade level t-shirt. Thank you for the generosity of local sponsors, our Panther Partners. They are:
Gold Level Sponsors:
Janna Misek, State Farm * Carol Guist, Baird & Warner * Oswego Orthodontics
Silver Level Sponsors:
Rush Copley Healthplex * Ron Donovan, Keller Williams * Brook Henschen, john greene Realor
Bronze Level Sponsors:
HQC * Boulder Hill Dental
And speaking of generosity, our school is extraordinary!! We crushed our record for donations to the food drive by gathering over 8,000 items. WOW!! As we were collecting food, we were also gathering donations and preparing for our Panther Fitness Challenge. For the first year ever, the weather cooperated and we were able to hold the event outside. I hope you were all able to read our results in yesterday’s Thursday folders. We raised $18.180.00!! Unbelievable!! Every penny raised will come back to our school. This is a new per student record for our school. And enough packets were turned in for the students to earn their special prize – a talent show put on by the staff later this year. I hope that we all take a moment to recognize how strong we are and what we can accomplish together. We are truly living our school theme – Better Together!! Go Panthers!!
There is even more happening at Prairie Point this month. Tonight is our first annual Father/Son Game Night in the gym. Our first health & wellness night, for Kindergarten and 1st grade families is next Wednesday, the 11th. We hope to see you there. The following Tuesday, the 17th, is our Book Fair/Bingo night. Come shop at the book fair in the LRC then visit the cafeteria for Bingo. Be sure to wear your costume to participate in a costume contest. Finally, we end the month with our first class parties of the year celebrating Halloween. Please check the Press each week for more information, including dates and times.
Home and School is able to provide these great events because parents offer their help. If you are curious about Home & School and want to know how to get involved, we would like to hear from you. For more information, visit our website at prairiepointhso.org.
Have a wonderful month!!
Great Art Volunteers Needed
Great Art is in need of volunteers in many classrooms. If you are unfamiliar with Great Art, it is a wonderful program, presented to your children each month. A volunteer (usually a parent) comes into the classroom to discuss a piece of art and do a small project. The art that is discussed is provided to you along with materials to do the small project (materials are located in a cabinet at the school). When it is your month to present, you will receive an email asking you to contact your child’s teacher to request the Great Art binder to be sent home with your child and to arrange a time to present the art to the class. The binder is filled with ideas to present the art. (No prior art knowledge is required!) You may use the ideas that are in the binder or you may use your own ideas. The presentation and project should only take about 30 min.
If you are interested in presenting, or have questions, please contact Candace Kelty at candacek1@comcast.net.
