PTO News
THANK YOU to the following families who donated desserts for the LMS Staff Thanksgiving Luncheon: Smith, Scruggs, Wood, Thomas, Layne, Davidson, Gowen, Fisher, and Thomas. There are a few pics of our appreciative teachers on the PTO Facebook and Instagram pages!
We are not able to host our annual Jag Color Jog fundraiser, which brought in over $15,000 last year to support and enrich the student experience at LMS. Instead, we are asking for donations via this attached letter. THIS IS OUR MAIN FUNDRAISER THIS YEAR. Please donate if you are able, and share this with any grandparents, neighbors, and friends who may also be inclined to support your child(ren). Any donation is greatly appreciated!

FREE Christmas Dinner Food Box
Lynchburg First Church of the Nazarene (LFCN) is providing food boxes for families in need. Each food box will contain a 7-10 pound ham, canned sides, and a dessert mix to be dropped off at homes on Saturday, December 19 between 9:00am-5:00pm.
How this works:
1. Families can sign up by calling: 434-239-4943*
*If you leave a voicemail, you will not be signed up. You MUST speak with someone on the phone to get signed up. They have a high volume of calls, so it may take awhile to get someone on the phone. There is also a google form option below if families do not want to call in.

BLAST - Building Leaders for Advancing Science and Technology offers an exciting way for rising 9th and 10th grade students to spend three days of summer! Participating students get to stay in a college dorm and see what campus life is like on-site at one of our three partner universities: Old Dominion University, Virginia Tech, or the University of Virginia. Each day of BLAST is jam-packed with science, technology, engineering, and math-related (STEM) activities and demonstrations led by faculty of the university. Students come away from BLAST with a greater sense of curiosity, deeper insight about the variety of careers that exist in STEM, and enhanced readiness for advanced STEM programs. This Week in SEL/Homeroom
This week in Homeroom: This week in homeroom we are beginning conversations about roller coasters! What do roller coasters have to do with social and emotional learning, you might ask? Well, we are looking at two tracks on our “Reality Ride”. The Easy Fast Track often leads to patterns of crashing while the Harder But Worth It Track leads to opportunity, freedom, and self-respect. What kinds of things influence which track we ride on? And how does setting a goal to focus on help us ride the best rails?
For further conversations with your student: Talk with your student about these two tracks and the obstacles or challenges that might lead us to board the wrong one.
Can you help? Just answer a quick question below. Participants will be entered into a drawing for a family gift each quarter. There are only a couple of weeks left to play this round.

LMS Attendance
Greetings from the attendance office!
Parents, I would like to start by introducing myself. My name is Debbie Riley and I’m the attendance clerk here at LMS and so excited to be a part of the Jaguar team.
By now, some of you may have received a daily message at 3pm saying your child was absent for the previous day. I would like to take this time to clarify the attendance process.
LCS has implemented a new “daily attendance” check in.
Please have your child check in with their homeroom teacher between 8:45-9:00, via zoom or answer the SEL question of the day. This is very important because the homeroom teacher uses this for attendance each day. If your child is not present during this time, the teacher is required to mark them absent and this is why you are getting the phone call the following day, reporting your child absent.
My email address is rileydl@lcsedu.net, or you may call me anytime, 434-515-5330, ext. 32013.
You may also use the following email, LMSattendance@lcsedu.net, to leave any messages regarding your child’s absences.
Should you have any questions, please reach out to me, I am here to help you!
