City High Update
The School That Leads
September 30, 2019
Dear Little Hawks,
Greetings from The School That Leads. City High enjoyed a festive Homecoming last week. Thank you to Student Senate students and sponsors for their hard work planning the events. The parade is so special to see our whole eastside community coming together. The dance was enjoyed by over 900 students! Mr. Bacon learned some new dance moves. And, the Little Hawks won the big football game. Good times!
Parent Teacher Conferences October 14 and 16
City High will host midterm first trimester parent/teacher conferences on October 14 and 16, from 4:30-7:30 each evening. The conferences will be held on a drop-in basis in classrooms. We hope to see your there.
Construction Update-- Use Door #39 for Gym Entrance
Our $27 million addition project is officially underway. The former main gym exterior entrance is now blocked off, as that is exactly where the work is happening. So, when you come to City High for sporting events, the entrance will be door #39, just past the Victory Bell/Old Gym area. Enter through this door, then go through the Commons, and turn right into the gym area. Signage has been installed to help direct people to the gym/outdoor fields.
Parade a Success
Our community lined the First Avenue all the way from Mercer Park to Bates Field for the annual Homecoming Parade. Every City High feeder elementary school took part. Our Student Senate did a great job organizing!
Homecoming Royalty
Congratulations to Bob and Yardley, this year's Homecoming King and Queen! These great students are excellent ambassadors for TSTL!
Ambassadors Create Mentoring Program at South East
The City High Ambassadors Club has develped an excellent mentoring program at South East Junior High. The program is off to a great start. Very proud of these students for making a difference!
Engineering Students at Work
City High Project Lead the Way engineering students learned about surveying in class last week. Great hands-on learning!
College Visits to CHS
Each week, the City High Guidance Office hosts many colleges/universities who come to meet with students. This month features Brown, UNI, St. Olaf, the US Army, and much more! Students can refer to the guidance bulletin boards near the main foyer and library to learn of the visits, and sign up.
It's great to be a City High Little Hawk!
Thank you for your strong support of City High School!
