SLIME TIME for Mr. D? May 15-26!
We love to help our local and global community! We will be helping students in Kenya and Tanzania through the efforts of the group 'Joining Hearts & Hands' founded by local educators Bill and Joanne Cala.
This has been a school tradition for a long time!! It would be great if your children can bring in any extra pennies or “spare” change you might have at home. Even a small amount can go a long way in helping.
Let's try to reach $1,100. Mr. D'Abreu will be "slimed" by students at the May 26th Assembly!

Wellness Week!
Healthy students are better learners and academic achievement bears a lifetime of benefits for health. At Helendale, we are going to focus on whole body wellness by discussing mind and body health. Each morning we will open with a mindful message to begin the day and there will be activities to reinforce the theme of whole-body wellness.
5/22 -Mindful Monday - Classes will enjoy a yoga break in the library
5/23 -Grat-tues - We will be making a compliment chain during lunch
5/24 -Wellness Wednesday - We will take walks, and make sure we get enough water!
5/25 -Thoughtful Thursday - We will practice being present and knowing our feelings/thoughts
5/26 -Fitness Friday - Wear your fitness gear or school gear! Today is high energy - hopefully ending with an assembly where we SLIME Mr. D!
Your feedback needed!
The district is interested in ways in which we can support the needs of parents/families, to improve the education of their children, and identify strategies to support successful school and family interactions.”

May DEI Meeting: Previewing Our New Elementary ELA Curriculum
East Irondequoit's educators believe that literacy is a fundamental human right and the gateway to learning and lifelong success. That's why East Irondequoit will be implementing a new elementary ELA curriculum starting in the Fall of 2023. In this May 24 session you will have the opportunity to learn how and why this curriculum was selected and will engage in a process to analyze its cultural responsiveness. You will have the opportunity to discuss the curriculum with teachers who were early adopters and learn about its impact. If you're a parent, you will learn more about how to support your child's literacy development at home. The meeting will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Laurelton-Pardee Cafeteria. If you are planning to attend, please register here: https://forms.office.com/r/YVCiBLmc8B
