Dear Parents,

The online version of this newsletter may be found at https://www.smore.com/09vzx.

There are a few notable differences between the online/PDF versions of the newsletter and the paper version that is being sent home today. First, we will operate on a Monday Schedule on Wednesday, June 1st. Secondly, we have a Watch DOG scheduled through the remainder of this week. Lastly, the online/PDF versions contain additional information about this Friday’s field day.

This week’s staff members of the week are one of our hardworking paraprofessionals, Mrs. Esther Medina, and one of our second grade teachers, Mrs. Stephanie Cox.

Please return summer school applications as soon as possible if you have not done so yet. These were due back to me on Monday.

Our third through fifth graders were wonderful audiences for our presenters from VKOT (Vikings Kicking Out Tobacco) last Wednesday morning in the gym. Hopefully the students shared all that they learned with you when they got home.

We have six very busy days ahead of us as we move toward the end of the school year. Events include a few more field trips, many awards programs, field day, and our kindergarten and fifth grade graduations. We have also added a gifted showcase to our calendar for this Thursday night from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Our students who have participated in gifted enrichment will present some of the projects they have worked on this year. Presentations and work will be on display all over the building.

Field Day is Friday. Have your children wear clothes that they can get wet. Students may NOT wear bathing suits to school. Please also send the following to school with your child that day:
a complete change of clothes,
water shoes if they have them,
a towel to dry off with,
a plastic bag to place their wet clothes in,
sunscreen, and
a hat.

Students who do not bring a change of clothes will not be allowed to participate in the water activities.

June 3rd is the last day that you can order a yearbook. They are $20 each and can be ordered online at balfour.com/yearbook/harveymitchellelementary. We are also still accepting yearbook ads. These can be purchased until June 3rd as well.

Please see the calendar below for more upcoming events.

Thank you for your continued support of your child's education.

Sincerely,

John Rokenbrod
