Carl Cozier News ~ March 2021
Note from the Principal
Hello Cozier Families,
Happy (almost) Spring! If you're anything like me, you're counting the days until the first day of Spring on March 20th. I am already feeling excited to see buds on trees, longer days and maybe just a few signs that sunny days are coming!
We are thrilled to have all of students back in the building, learning in person! Our 4th and 5th graders are adjusting well to a hybrid schedule and we hope that you've been able to have some sense of normalcy with students returning to school. We continue to refine our safety protocols and consider ways that we can be as safe as possible while we're all learning together.
Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your children with us each day. As always, please feel free to reach out to me with questions or feedback. My cell phone number is: 360.988.3600. You are welcome to call or text me any time.
Regards, Ari
Changes to Bus Times!
Eligible bus riders! Be sure to check routes before Monday morning
If your child rides the bus to in person school, there will some adjustments to bus times effective Monday, March 8. These adjustments were needed as we welcome more high school students back to in-person school. Most bus times have only changed by a few minutes, but some of them are earlier, and we don’t want anyone to be surprised. If your student is or will be riding the bus to school, you can find their bus stop and time at Infofinder. Enter your street address (no zip code or school) and you will be able to see the location and times for your student(s). If you need help with Infofinder, please call the school office or Transportation at 360-676-6546.

Book Reservation Changes
If your child is continues to learn from home through our Remote Reconnect plan, you are still welcome (and encouraged!) to check out books from our school library. Please continue to reserve books online and feel free to PICK UP and RETURN Books during the school day (8:30-2:30)
The cart of books will be located in the front entry of the school (Lincoln Street) between the hours of 8:30-2:30pm . Your reader’s books will be rubber banded with a bookmark indicating their name and due date for return! The return bin will be accessible as well!
If you are looking for a recommendation, please feel free to email me anytime! Getting books to enthusiastic readers is my biggest priority!
Students who are learning in the building can pick up books/have them delivered during the regular school day.
Regards,
Emily Jones
Library Media Specialist

Running Late?
We all have those running late mornings! We totally understand! If your kiddo is learning at Cozier and you’re running late, please pull up to the front of the building on Lincoln Street and walk your child to the doors. There’s a sign in sheet (with clean pens!) so that we can be sure to have accurate attendance. Thanks for helping us with this.
Bellingham Schools COVID dashboard
A few of you have asked about positive cases within the Bellingham School District. To help track cases and share up to date information, the District has created a COVID-19 dashboard – click here to access. This is where you’ll find information regarding positive cases in each building. In each case, we have taken guidance from the Whatcom County Health Department and acted in a way that prevented transmission and kept all students and staff safe. Please let me know if you have any questions about this or would like to further discuss.
Attendance Reminders
A reminder that daily attendance is being taken by classroom teachers. Our office team is reviewing absences each day and reaching out to families to ensure that every child has the tools needed to engage in online learning. Being marked “present” means that your child has participated in live learning, watched a video post on Seesaw or engaged in an activity on Seesaw.
We know that absences happen, just like they do when we are learning in our building. When your child is absent due to illness, appointment or a family event, please call the office at 360.676.6410 (press option 1 for attendance) so that we can excuse the absence. Thank you for your help with this – and please reach out if questions.
