District Office information:
Good Morning!
Faribault Public Schools is registered to have a presence at the Faribault
Job Fair and Manufactures event scheduled to be held on October 16th from 9:30-6:00. From 9:30am-12pm the event will be for FHS and SCC students, then from 1pm-6pm the event will be open to the public.
We would like to have a few reps from our school district available to talk to students during the first part of the day about careers and the path necessary to choose a career in education. Please reach out to individuals in your buildings to see if anyone is interested and willing to participate in the event.
I plan to be there all afternoon to represent the district as a whole but could use help if anyone is available because I have a different meeting at 6:00 at the DO to be at.
Thanks for your help with this great local event!

Proud to be!
Brent,
I’ve been meaning to send you this for over a week, and feel bad I’m just now getting to it. Thank you so much for making Xxxxx feel welcomed and comfortable at the MS. As you know, Xxxxx was very nervous about the switch to the MS, so much so, we were prepared for him to be asking to switch to a smaller school environment. When he came home over a week ago and said he was going to go out for Student Council, our nerves were calmed and we knew he was going to be okay. You are definitely a big reason why he feels so comfortable, and why he’s getting involved. We appreciate you, the job you do, and the extra effort you put into everything you do at the school.
Have a great week!

Trained staff can be paras, EAs and teachers
Keep in mind each field trip bus needs to have a trained staff member on it.
Please send a few staff members from each team to the conference room on Oct. 2nd at 3:00 to be trained by Bonnie Story, one of the District RNs. This should take about 15 mins.

Project-Based Teaching: Fine-Tuning Instructional Strategies for Deep Learning Webinar
If you are interested in registering for the webinar, let me know as my login information would be needed. October 23rd 2 pm central time
Momentum for project-based learning (PBL) is building across the United States and internationally as school systems seek better ways to prepare students for college, careers, and citizenship. This shift to student-centered learning puts new demands on teachers. How does their role change with the adoption of PBL?
In this interactive webinar, Suzie Boss and John Larmer, coauthors of Project Based Teaching: How to Create Rigorous and Engaging Learning Experiences (a co-publication of ASCD and Buck Institute for Education), will unpack the seven teaching practices that set the stage for successful teaching and learning during PBL. Following the framework developed by the Buck Institute for Education, the authors will explain the importance of each teaching practice: design and plan, align to standards, build the culture, manage activities, scaffold student learning, assess student learning, and engage and coach. Classroom examples will bring the practices to life, showing how specific teacher moves help students realize the full potential of PBL for deep and meaningful learning.
During the webinar, participants will be prompted to reflect on their own practice and consider tools and strategies to improve the PBL experience for their students. The webinar will also offer suggestions for school leaders and instructional coaches as they support teachers in adopting PBL.
