MULTIPLYING FRACTIONS
Today you are going to learn how to multiply fractions!
STEP ONE TO BECOMING A MULTIPLYING FRACTIONS EXPERT
The first step that you need to do is to line up your fractions having the denominators and the numerators in line with each other. If you have more than two fractions, just line up all of them next to each other. They should be lined up from left to right in a straight line.
STEP TWO
Multiply the top numbers (numerators) by each other and then multiply the bottom numbers (denominators) by each other. If you have more than two fractions, just multiply as many numbers as you have. Put the fraction bar in between the top number that you got and the bottom number that you got. This is your product.
REDUCING THE FRACTION
1st step
Take the fraction that you just got as your answer and find a number that the numerator and the denominator can be divided into equally. Divide the numerator by that number and divide the denominator by that number and put the fraction bar in between your two new numbers.
2nd step
Keep dividing the numerator and the denominator into smaller fractions until one of the numbers can not be divided equally into the same number.
3rd step
This may take a little bit of practice, but you will become better at it over time!
