International Alliance for Invitational Education

The Friday before Spring Break we were honored to host Dr. Kathy Fields, the Executive Director of the International Alliance of Invitational Education. Dr. Fields said the following about CHS in the April IAIE newsletter.

Cascade High A Welcoming Example of Invitational Education

Thanks to Dr. Jetta Tarr, this year Cascade High School was nominated and received the distinction of a Welcoming School. Dr. Tarr was invited by Principal Jon Acton to join the staff last fall to fill in as an English teacher and while there, realized the incredible leadership, staff, and students of Cascade High. She quickly nominated them for the Welcoming Schools award and has since mentored them towards becoming a full-fledged Invitational School.

This month, Charlanne Pook and I had the pleasure of visiting with Principal Acton and his team as we toured Cascade High. I would encourage every school leader and teacher to visit this amazing Blue Ribbon School to see the wonderful opportunities afforded each student. They are a hub in their community and have partnerships with local universities to provide each student with the support and experiences each will need to become a viable citizen of Indiana. Thank you to Dr. Tarr and Principal Acton for the dedication to creating and sustaining a learning environment that is welcoming and inviting for all
