Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

We truly appreciate all your patience and support as we've worked to refine our arrival and dismissal procedures to accommodate our growing number of students this year. While we have many more car riders this year, our lines are running smoothly despite the high volume of traffic. With the addition of a stop sign along Cypress Ranch Blvd. and more cars on the road this year, our car rider line may just be viewable from space. However, there are some things you can do to keep us flowing in the right direction!

  • Arrive early, carpool and take advantage of bus service (if available in your area)
  • Pull all the way forward in the car rider line
  • Stay in your vehicle, our staff is happy to assist you and your student
  • Use only approved drop-off locations, no street parking
  • Have your student ready to exit the vehicle quickly (backpack ready, etc.)
  • Observe speed limits and cellphone-free zones
  • Be safe, courteous and respectful of other drivers, school staff, and our students...we are all in this together!

We've modified our arrival locations this year to better accommodate our growing student population and to make arrival and dismissal as convenient as possible. Our arrival map shows some of the improvements made for this year's student arrival. Please remember that students should be at their desks, ready to start the school day, at 7:40 am.

The departure map also includes improvements made to facilitate safe and expedient departures at the end of the school day at 2:55 pm.

We use School Dismissal Manager to administer information concerning students' transportation home at the end of each school day. It also can be used by parents to report student absences to us, tardies, and/or students' early departures during the school day. An email from us through School Dismissal Manager was sent to all parents last week. It contains your log in information. Please contact the front desk at 512-533-7500 if you have any questions.

We appreciate advance notice if students are leaving early for the day, but we do not call students from class until you arrive in the front office. Please allow yourself a few extra minutes when picking up your children early from school. We will certainly do our best to accommodate you and have your student ready for that call.

Thank you for all you do to help keep our students safe!

Volunteer Opportunities at @WCH

We are so very fortunate at West Cypress Hills Elementary to have the most wonderful volunteers. Volunteering gives us all an opportunity to become better acquainted with other parents, WCH staff members, and our community. Please check out our volunteer opportunities here.

A Volunteer Information Meeting will be held in the school cafeteria at 9:30 am, August 30th, following our PTO General Meeting.

Join the West Cypress PTO

Be in the know and involved in West Cypress Hills' Elementary activities. Join the PTO today! Here is the application form and, for your convenience, here is a link to make online payments.

Our first general PTO meeting will be August 30 in the West Cypress Hills Elementary School Cafeteria, aka Tulley's Den. The meeting will start at 9 am. See you there!

Food Allergy Information

If you are new to the district or your student has new or additional allergies, parents must turn in this form to the campus nurse once it has been signed by the approved medical professional.

The nurse then will distribute to all school staff that need to know of the allergy, including Food and Nutrition Staff.

  • If your student already had an allergy form turned in, and the allergy remains, a new form does not need to be turned in.
  • If your student has additional allergies, an updated form does need to be completed and turned in.

If your student has some resolved allergies, less precautions or restrictions, then an email to the campus nurse will suffice; who can then communicate it to needed staff, including Food and Nutrition Services. Click here for more information on how the special diet accommodation process works.

Thank you in advance for helping us help your student!

Tuesday Folders

On Tuesdays, each student carries home in her/his backpack the blue Tuesday Folder. The Tuesday Folder contains important information from the teacher, the school, the PTO, and/or the school district.

Please check the backpack each Tuesday evening to retrieve the information that we forwarded to you via Tuesday Folder and then return the blue folder to the backpack so that it will return to school the next day.
