1/29-2/2 Catholic Schools Week
***Tune into WRBI for school closing or delays due to bad weather. Remember we follow Batesville Schools. Also, we do still have am preschool on delay days. We start at 9:45 and go until 10:45. Please do not stress about coming, we are here for only an hour and we know delay days can be hard!****
Parents Corner
We want to start off by thanking all of you for a great first half of the year! Mrs. Amberger, Mrs. Wanstrath and I are so pleased with how the year is going. Your children are amazing! We feel blessed to be in your lives.
We will all stay very busy during this month. We will do our second set of evaluations with each one of the Pre K children. It is the exact same evaluation we gave early in the year. This second time around we will be concentrating on the answers that your child missed during the first evaluation. We are not looking for perfection, but we are looking for forward progression. I will be meeting with each of you during/around the week of 1/22 for a one on one conference to talk about how great your child is doing and some areas where we can continue to work. We will provide you with time options for your conference once we get back to school.
God in Our Lives
We will be talking about manners. Continuing to practice that the way we treat others, is how we treat Jesus. Through a game, the children love to pick out which images show the people doing the right thing!!
Both Pre K and Tues/Thursday children will learn the story of Noah’s Ark. We will talk about how Noah believed so hard and was certain God knew what he was doing. He just had to believe.
Of course celebrating Catholic Schools Week allows us to remember how central Jesus' teachings are to every day in our school.

Missy m. Mouse
I am not a fan of mice…but I make an exception for Missy. During this week we will fix muffins and eat them for snack. We will decorate the letter Mm using macaroni. The PreK children will learn about Mat Man who is constructed of wooden shapes. The children will draw a picture of a person. Then we will gather around, listen to a song and build a “Mat Man.” This exercise helps the children see the anatomy of a person and how it would look. (Like a person’s arms come out of their body not their neck.) They will then go back and draw another picture. The difference is amazing! We will put the pictures in their binders.
This is the week when we discuss manners and how they are so important!
Nigel n. Nightowl
Every day when your child comes to school, they search for their names at least four times. When they hang up their backpacks, when they find their spot for our beginning center, when they search to see if they have a job, and when they find their spot at snack, we reinforce name recognition. We will talk about names and practice writing. We will show the PreK children a real bird’s nest and a super cool video that shows how a bird makes a nest.
Olive o. Octopus
We will have oyster crackers and mandarin oranges for the snacks this week. We will talk about opposites and the ocean. Playing the opposite game with your child is fun and easy practice. We are excited about the ocean craft the M/W/F children will make! The Tues/Thursday group will have some fun stamping the letter Oo!
