A Message From Our Principal

Dear Oakwood Parents,

Life at Oakwood has slowed down a bit as everyone has settled into their new routines and schedules. New friends have been made, tests have been taken, projects have been completed, and progress reports have been sent home. A lot of great things are happening at Oakwood, and we are thrilled to have your students with us this year.

Our first six weeks will end on Friday, October 2. Report cards will be sent home the following week. If you are concerned with your child’s progress, please contact his/her team and set up a parent conference. You can find the email addresses for our teachers here. As a reminder, parents can access their students’ grades at any time during the six weeks. This can be done through the Home Access Center or HAC. Click here for more information.

We are now offering a tutorial bus that is currently running after school on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Tutorials end at 4:30 p.m., and the bus picks the students up in front of the school. If you have any questions about tutorials or the bus, please contact your child’s teacher directly.

Game Day Parking (GDP) at Oakwood has been a huge success as we have sold out for the first two games of the season. We hope that the Aggies continue to win so that we can take full advantage of our proximity to the stadium. All proceeds from GDP go directly to our PTO, and therefore, Oakwood Intermediate. If you are interested in parking at Oakwood, please check here for more information.

We are very excited about our Fall Festival that will be held on October 29. Our teachers are already preparing for this fantastic event. There will be some new activities this year that we think everyone will enjoy and we really hope to see everyone there. Who knows--we might even have some fall-like weather by then.

Please note that our students will have a holiday on October 12. As always, thank you for allowing us to work with your children. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher or the front office. Have a great day!

Fall Fundraiser: Stand With Oakwood

Help Oakwood purchase standing desks for our classrooms and earn great prizes! You’ll also have the chance to enter into some great drawings!

Thank you to all of the families and sponsors who have joined us as we Stand With Oakwood. As of October 1, we have raised enough funds to help Oakwood purchase 10 desks.

Did you know that the moment you stand up there is an estimated 20-35% increase in calories burned per minute? Not only do standing desks help our students to be healthier, they also help them be at their best. Studies show a 3.5% increase in cognitive ability when students are allowed to be up and moving.

Let's see how many more of these desks we can bring to Oakwood! Find out how at https://www.smore.com/akh22.

To help, send in the form with your donation by October 23, 2015. Local businesses have teamed up with Oakwood PTO to show our "sweet appreciation" for supportive families!
