Happy Sunday Pirate Families!
This is National School Lunch Week. All students continue to receive free meals through Dec. 31st thanks to a federal grant, so now is a great time to try school lunch. Monday- Individual Pictures for ALL kindergarteners (cohort A & B), NO first graders, and Cohort A students in grades 2nd-5th. This Tuesday is our Papa John's Spirit Night from 4-8pm. Grab dinner and help out the school at the same time! Wednesday at 7:30 am we will have our monthly Strategic Planning Mtg. Ms. Highsmith will be sending the link to team members soon. Wednesday don't forget to participate in our live Teams sessions in the morning and our optional Music & PE session at 1pm. Thursday is the end of the grading period, so all work must be turned in if students want to get credit for doing it. This is a firm deadline, so make sure that you check in with child regarding missing assignments today before it is too late. As previously stated, remote work will be taken for grades this year.
Friday- Individual Pictures for NO kindergarteners, ALL first graders (cohort A & B), and Cohort B grades 2nd -5th. Also on Friday we have our Sweeter Things Ice Cream Shack Spirit Night (afterschool–8:00pm).
Thank you to everyone's patience with our car pool procedures. We will be trying the QR code again this week. Apple phones simply open your camera and focus on the QR code, it will then automatically pull up School Dismissal Manager and you will be prompted to enter your PIN and first few letters of your last name (last name of the account holder). We seem to be having some technical difficulties with Android phones, you may need to download a QR reader app. We will give it a try and if it doesn't work, no worries, so long as you have your PIN we can use that. Ultimately our goal is to have a sign with the QR code posted so that parents can simply pull up, scan the QR code and pull forward without the assistant of a staff member. This will allow staff members more time to work on their top priority which is teaching students:) Please do not arrive before 2:30 for car pool each day. The QR code will not be available until after 2:30. Thanks.
Thank you to those that have so generously donated to the families of Silverhill Elementary. This Thursday will be the last day to donate, as we will be sending the school a check on Friday along with some cards of encouragement from our students. I am sure that these families will be so grateful to receive this assistance. If you would like to donate, you can do so by logging in to School Cash Online account(where you paid your child's school fees) and under view all items you will see a place to donate to Silverhill Elementary. You can also drop by our office anytime between 8 am-4 pm Monday- Thursday of this week.
All Immunization Records and North Carolina Schools Health Assessment Forms are due by Friday, October 30th, 2020. Nurse Sammons has sent home reminders to those that still need to turn in their updated paperwork. Students will be excluded from school Starting Monday November 2, 2020 if these documents are not turned in. These are NC State General Statutes and Laws. We cannot make exceptions. Also, if your child is not feeling well, please keep them home as we try to keep all students safe during this pandemic.
