Spring Lake Park High School Seniors and Families:
It’s May Day tomorrow, which means graduation for the Class of 2021 is quickly approaching. This week, we have a few important updates for our seniors and families. Find these updates and information on senior activities and events at SpringLakeParkSchools.org/Graduation
- Graduation Ceremony: We are planning on in-person graduation ceremony for Friday, June 11 at 7 p.m. at Mariucci Arena (University of Minnesota – Twin Cities). Mariucci Arena provided the most guest tickets per graduate following current COVID-19 guidelines. We will have much more information about ticketing, parking and more in future updates. At this point, please simply mark your calendar!
- Decision Day is Monday, May 3: Please encourage your senior to participate. This is the day we celebrate the post-secondary plans of the Class of 2021. Seniors are encouraged to participate by wearing clothing or gear that represents their plans for next year. This could be a shirt or sweatshirt of the school they will be attending or the branch of the military they will be serving in, etc. Counselors will take photos with each student who participates and provide them a gift. Students in Extended Flexible Learning can participate in Decision Day by emailing a photo in their college/career gear. Send to Jennifer Blaido, jblaid@district16.org. She will also coordinate a time for our distance learning seniors to pick up their gift.
- Senior meeting and sign distribution is Thursday, May 6 at 2 p.m.: All seniors should attend this meeting (in the Fine Arts Center or via WebEx) to get important end-of-year and graduation information and updates on prom and senior all night party. In addition, thanks for the Panther Foundation, we will be providing each senior with a free yard/window sign at the close of this meeting. Signs will also be available for pick-up after Thursday.
- Cap and gowns: We will distribute graduation caps and gowns on Wednesday, May 19. Seniors will be able to pick up and/or purchase their cap and gown and any additional honor cords or tassels they may be eligible for. We will provide more information to our seniors at the senior class meeting next Thursday.
- Photo opportunity: As we did last spring, we will once again provide an opportunity for graduates and their families to come to the high school to take graduation photos. We will host these opportunities Thursday, June 10 and Friday, June 11. This includes the option to have a professional photographer take your family photo on the field in Panther Stadium. Families who choose can purchase photos from the photographer. More details, including signup information will be in our next update.
Watch for another update in a few weeks as we blaze toward the end of the school year and our celebration of the Class of 2021.
