A Message from the principal

Hello Owyhee Community,

Welcome Back! It may be virtual, but we are so happy to see all your faces on the meets. Thank you parents for all of your fabulous support over these past few weeks. We are working at Owyhee to provide all of our students with the best virtual learning experience. I know we have all had a few glitches, starts and stops and reboots, but we are getting this done. We look forward to welcoming you back in person at some point in the future. Stay tuned for more information regarding returning to in person learning. Stay healthy, wear your mask and wash your hands.

A Message from the Counselor

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The start of the 2020-21 school year has been unlike any other. To begin the first day of school without students in the physical building was very unusual! As a school counselor, I am typically catching up with returning students, welcoming new students, and sharing in the mix of excitement and nervousness that is ever present on day one. Over the past two weeks I have had the opportunity to join our virtual classrooms to welcome our students and introduce myself as your child’s school counselor. Although there are a lot of unknowns right now, I am eager to continue my work as a school counselor in supporting students in new and innovative ways this year.

I am happy to announce that I will be at Owyhee three days a week this year on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. In addition to teaching weekly lessons, a student may choose to meet with a school counselor for many reasons including, but not limited to: emotion management, friendship concerns, academic/learning strategies, or changing family dynamics. While school counselors do not provide therapy, we are present to support the development of our students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Parents may also request for a school counselor to check in with their student. Additionally, I can provide referral information for community based mental health providers.

Thank you for your time! Please use the following contact information if you would like to get in touch! If you are interested in signing up for the weekend food backpack program or taking part in Operation School Bell, please contact me via email or by phone. Requests to talk with a school counselor can be made by parents and students by visiting my school counseling site:
