School Council Members Needed
We need 3-5 parents to serve on our school council this year. School Council meets once a month. At this time we will continue to meet virtually. Please let me know if you are interested in serving on the school council. Email me at: mmelick@framingham.k12.ma.us If I receive more than five volunteers we will have a vote to decide who will serve.
Below is an explanation of what a School Council is:
The school council, including the school principal, shall meet regularly and shall assist in the identification of the educational needs of the students attending the school, make recommendations to the principal for the development, and in the formulation of a school improvement plan. The principal of each school, in consultation with the school council established pursuant to this section shall adopt educational goals for the schools consistent with the goals and standards including the student performance standards, adopted by the board pursuant to section one D of chapter sixty nine, and consistent with any educational policies established for the district, shall assess the needs of the school in light of those goals, and shall formulate a school improvement plan to advance such goals, to address such needs and to improve student performance.

Parent Teacher Home Visit Program
In case you missed this, the District has recently announced that we are resuming the home visits program in partnership with Parent Teacher Home Visits, a non-profit, grassroots network, in an effort to build stronger relationships with our families. Please read Dr. Tremblay’s letter about this program on the FPS Website: https://bit.ly/FPS91622.
P-EBT Cards
If you or someone you know received a Summer P-EBT Card in the mail, please visit the FPS Food Service Website for more information on how to use your card. These cards are being distributed to students who qualified for Free/Reduced Meals OR who attended Barbieri, Brophy, Harmony Grove, McCarthy, Cameron, Fuller, or Thayer Campus during the last school year (2021 - 2022). This is a temporary government assistance program to help families purchase food at any physical or online retail store that accepts SNAP or EBT. You can choose to activate your card or hold on to it in the event that the country needs to activate an emergency food-assistance program in the future.

IDecide
One area in which we would like to improve this year as a school community is with regard to substance abuse-particularly vaping products. To that end, we have partnered with Mass General Hospital and the Harvard School of Public Health to institute a substance use cessation program, which includes a student survey.
Information about the program can be found here.
If you do not wish for your child to participate, you must fill out the opt-out here.
Multilingual Teaching Team
We'd like to welcome and introduce Cameron's new multilingual teaching team. Our teachers hail from Brazil, Spain, and the US, and we are excited to support our growing population of emerging bilingual students.
