HEMLOCK MIDDLE SCHOOL
Jan. 23rd - Jan. 29th
Weekly Update from our Superintendent
This is our 20th week of the 2020-2021 school year. It remains our goal to provide you with regular updates.
It is exciting to report that we have not had any new cases of COVID-19 or school-related quarantines since our return to school after the holiday break.
However, we did have to disruption to some transportation services due to non-school related concerns. Filling vacant bus driver positions has been a challenge as a national/state shortage of qualified drivers hits home. If you or someone you know would be interested in becoming a bus driver, please do not hesitate to let us know. We provide all the training and have an immediate need for drivers.

All the best,
Don Killingbeck, Supt.
Congratulations to our Student Council Representatives!!

Basketball 2020-2021 Season
Hello to all MS Boys Basketball Parents!!
We are excited that we are able to offer the boys the opportunity to have a basketball season. That being said I wanted to remind you about important protocols that must be followed to safe guard the opportunity for your son. Similar to our protocols for the normal school day.
Parents should not be entering the building for pick up or drop off practice or open gym.
The boys must wear a mask at all times.
The boys need to bring a water bottle that they can fill in the bottle fillers in the locker rooms.
Lockers will be issued for the players to keep basketball related belongings in during the day. They will also have access to these during practice.
Unfortunately, before games and practices students are not allowed to stay in the school building.
Players should enter/exit through the east door (Door #28) for practices. Boys should not enter the gym until their coach is present.
If you need to talk to a coach, please contact them through Final Forms to set up an appointment.
Under this updated order, spectators for winter sports are limited to 100 persons.
Ticket information will be sent soon through Final Forms.
When MHSAA protocols are finalized, we will let parents know.
Winter sports fees are being waived because of the length of the season.
We are excited for this opportunity and look forward to our athletes having a great season!
GO HUSKIES!

WANNA DRIVE A SCHOOL BUS??
Call 989-642-5282 if you are interested.
January 20 begins 10 days of palindromes! What’s a palindrome? It’s a number or word which can be read the same forward and backward. (Example: “Rise to vote, sir.”) Some cultures believe palindrome dates are lucky. And 1-20-21 starts a historic string of 10 palindrome dates!
Don't believe it?? Check these dates out for yourself.... 12021, 12121, 12221, 12321, 12421, 12521, 12621, 12721, 12821, 12921. Wow!!
